FemiFaniKayode: Rex Lawson is the best of all time.................. Flavor made fortune out of Rex Lawson Ashawo song, yet he never acknowledge him or paid any tribute to the legend. No copy right law in Nigeria. 1 Like |

OP you are wrong... I play those songs always on YouTube. And I also sing them loudly as well. Cos of it, babes in my lodge call me old school. Those songs are souk lifting songs. Am sure my fellow igbos do sing it. Do your research well |

Can't you just pass the message without comparing us with the ofes and their imams. I hate when Nwadiala speak like this. Well i take the message and leave the rest for you. 4 Likes |

God bless you my brother for opening this thread. I dont know why we youth of this generation choose to ignore our traditional music. Some said they use juju to sing, some said they dont glorify God. But thats a pure lie. I have listened to oliver de coque and osita osadebe songs and if you listen to their lyrics you will find out that their songs is pure truth . This people are naturally philosophers because they use their song to preach the truth. I listen to traditional music every day because they give me inspiration and truth about life |

Most of these musicians you mentioned are dead and so its extremely difficult to keep recycling the songs except occasionally. Sunny Ade,Ebenezer Obey etc are still alive so they keep bringing out new songs and probably updating the old ones. Human beings grow,so they need new songs. The songs of IK Dairo who is dead is not commonly played by Yoruba's except by the older generation who hold fond memories of his songs.Igbo's need to identify and encourage new upcoming highlife musicians to grow to the level of Osadebe etc. 2 Likes |

oh dear, igbo brother believe me those musics are cherished here in igboland, bars, parties, traditional weddings even in our homes. though some our christain brother still concieve it as fetish. But i wont cease to give u my graditude for inspiring into ur children abt their true origin despite living far away. even if they cant speak aleast they hear ,that will contribute to their greatness someday. i hav planned such for my coming children |

FemiFaniKayode:the only thing you did wrong was enforcing it on your kids. All my dad did was play the songs and preached to us about the quality of the songs for us to appreciate it. It's wrong to enforce it on your kids. How about you constantly remind them about the awesomeness and messages in those songs |
