By Oraye St. Franklyn If anyone was in doubt about the capacity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over power in 2019, the cohesion and singleness of purpose that characterised the just concluded National Convention of the Party in Port Harcourt, has cleared the doubts with emphatic certainty that it would. The entire country saw a new kind of PDP in Port Harcourt. One that had the interest of the vast majority of its members, and indeed Nigerians, over and above the pressing needs of critical stakeholders within it. In the razzmatazz of the entire political somersaults, credit must be given to the Chairman of the PDP Convention Planning Committee, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as well as his brother Governors in the Party for the leadership offered and continue to offer in rallying the Party together at this critical moment in its history. The dexterity displayed in the way and manner the Party rallied itself in Port-Harcourt in the split moment it faced its single most dangerous challenge to its regeneration and quest to reclaim its national governmental mandate is second to none in the history of the Party. Here are 10 reasons articulated to prove with a definite certainty that should the PDP sustain its current unifying momentum, it will succeed in changing the dubious change imposed by the APC on Nigerians that has left them in worse conditions than they were over 30 years ago. i personally, i thought is too early for someone to conceive this on mind now. Though i support PDP 100%, it will be my happiness if power return to PDP. We are tire of apc a party superintended by dunces and dullard. 45 Likes 3 Shares |

Buhari and How Corruption Can Fight Back, By Uche Igwe Since after President Buhari’s visit to the United Kingdom for the anti-corruption summit, the media has been flooded with several kinds of commentaries. Many of them were filled with disingenuous insinuations while others blatantly promoted disorderly falsehood to get underserved public attention. I attended that summit and was delighted with the respect and warm reception that was accorded to the Nigerian leader. He gave the organisers a dose of his no-nonsense style when he arrived for the event at about 7.00 am, before everyone else including the Secretary General of Commonwealth. I arrived the Marlborough House a few minutes after the Nigerian President and witnessed with delight, the commotion among journalists who were struggling to either get a glimpse of him or get him to say a word. http://newsdiaryonline.com/buhari-corruption-can-fight-back-uche-igwe/ http://newsdiaryonline.com/corruption-prevention-is-better-than-cure-says-icpc-chairman/ The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Ekpo Nta, has stated that the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) prescribed more of preventive measures in the fight against corruption. http://newsdiaryonline.com/corruption-corruption-discourse-issa-aremu/ The international anti-corruption summit – “the first of its kind aimed at exposing, punishing and driving out global corruption” opens at Lancaster House in United Kingdom on Thursday. President Muhammadu Buhari is a notable guest among others that parade IMF’s Christine Lagarde, presidents Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan, Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia and Norwegian prime minister Erna Solberg. Yours comradely once observed that the bane of corruption discourse seems to be its lack of immunity against corruption itself, defined as an abuse of printed and spoken words over corruption; an issue that calls for concerted action and deep reflection, rather than endless 9 Likes 2 Shares |

What is a political party without members? 90% of APC members were once PDP members. Considering the set of people in both political parties, I don't have faith in them, they're the same. If PDP should take back power now, you'll see many of them decamping back to PDP. So, let's forget about only parties, let's also talk about the people that make up the parties. For now, let me cross my legs and be watching how things will unfold. 26 Likes |

Fantastically spoken. But in reality, PDP will not survive till 2019. Just today, a court in PH, upheld Amodu sheriff leadership while another court in Lagos upheld Markarfi led caretaker committee 14 Likes 1 Share |

Eyahhhhh....., sorry 2 burst ur bubbles o. Right now, Nigeria is sooooooooo divided along ethnic (and religious) lines that nothing (except God Almighty) can stop pmb from ruling till 2023 except he chooses not 2 recontest. No thanks to d PDP dt successful turned d largest political party in Africa to a regional party thru hatred of anything/anyone not related to "us". #as~u~lay~ur~bed~so....... 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Which of their factions? It's easier for the proverbial horse to pass through the needle eye than for PDP to win presidential election in 2019. Nigerians dey craze? I know some are crazy but they're in the minority. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

It is reasonably clear that even a damaged medular oblogata man can still assert that PDP can never come to power in 2023 not to talk of 2019. We are not so idiotic to allow a ruined and battered party to continue with the damage they created for us all at this moment. Let PDP go back to drawing board probably we can consider them comes 2050 24 Likes 2 Shares |

All the highlighted points sum up to one thing: acute failure of the APC. The pang of regret is already being felt by many of those who put this regime in power. The PDP gave power cheaply to the APC, it seems the APC is about to return that favour. 3 Likes |

OP I doubt it o! Buhari and his APC goons ambition is worth the blood of nigerians o! You see, APC know they are not doing the right thing and so would do anything within their powers to ensure they win 2019 elections whether buhari the bastard perform well or not. Infact, come 2019, zombies (especially the ones here on nairaland) would realise why we call GEJ THE HERO OF OUR DEMOCRACY! 2 Likes 1 Share |
