More Nigerians were deported from London, United Kingdom and Australia for alleged immigration related offences on Wednesday.

The new deportees numbering 40 arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport on Wednesday morning, it was learnt.

The deportation, according to sources, was jointly carried out by the UK and Australia.
This would be the second time in a year that Nigerians would be deported for flouting immigration rules.

It would be recalled that Libya had on March 10 deported 172 Nigerians while UK on November last year deported 48.

36 of the latest deportees comprising 29 males and seven females were dumped at the Cargo terminal of the airport at about 8:00 a.m.

They arrived on a chartered aircraft with registration number ZTA -474 while Air Seychelles with registration number SND-1 brought four males into the country for similar immigration offences.

Sources at the Airport said the deportees also comprised nationals of other African countries especially from Ghana, Liberia and Egypt.

They were received by various agencies including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) which checked their identities to ascertain their nationalities; the Police, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) and other relevant stakeholders.

Some of the deportees, it was learnt, became violent when immigration officials attached to the international wing of the airport tried to get their fingerprints for documentation.

Most of the deportees had left the airport when our correspondent visited the cargo terminal today. They reportedly left quietly to avoid being noticed.

The Public Relations Officer of Immigration, Mr. Ekpedeme King confirmed the deportation in a telephone chat, promising to provide more details later.

Why won't they deport Nigerians when Buhari told the world that Nigerian are corrupt thieves.
