Nothing Has Changed
The month of May is special in Nigeria. It hosts three important holidays – workers, children and democracy. The engine of a nation is its committed workers. The future of any nation is its children and the driving force towards an envisioned future is the appointment of servant leaders. But how are these three fairing in our beloved country today? Children are buried alive but not inside grave but a corrupting society. Workers are languishing under the furnace of penury and unpaid stipends. The leaders are becoming financial obese and being intoxicated by their ill-gotten wealth. It is really pathetic.

Nothing has changed in the plight of the children across the world. Not only that they die or are killed before they are born but are born into a society which does not care for them. Children as future hopes have become almost a shattered dream. They are born into the despondency of insensitive and ignorant parents. They are exposed to the toxicity of perilous modern technology. Their new home is the Television. Their siblings are computer games, music, films and fashions. They seek refuge on the Internet for warmth, love and parental care. They sleep in the same house with their parents but never enjoy or know what parenthood is. The girl child has become endangered species in the modern times. She is susceptible to sexual abuses.

There is inexcusable negligence in our homes that has made the children tramps therein. Since we have been celebrating children children’s day, what positive thing has it brought to their lives? How are these children learning? What happens in their schools and their homes? How do we celebrate a child that is born outside wedlock? How do we celebrate a child that is out of school hawking in the streets? How do we celebrate a child wearing rags in the streets? How do we celebrate a child in child labour? How do we celebrate a child who is malnourished? How do we celebrate a child that is made to watch destructive films on our television stations? Declaration of days or their celebrations will not improve the plight of the child unless we return to guidance of Allah (SWT) on marriage and child upbringing. Let us prevent sex outside legitimate marriage, let us stay more at home to train these children, let us make our environment morally friendly to children. The unprecedented case of abducted girls is an eye opener of where children are placed and how they are valued! Any lasting, pragmatic change starts with proper children upbringing. Their sound moral and intellectual preparations are the basics for a blissful future.

Workers’ day has come and gone; and we will in two days’ time also celebrate democracy day. It is a day which is meaningless to a common man whose suffering has only increased from all angles – no food, no shelter, no security, no water, no road, no cloth, no education, etc. Yet the governments hypocritically claim that they are there for the people! Every government in power is imposed to be there for itself. At the general level, the current democracy lacks the spirit of God and credibility at many levels, it is inhuman to fellow men, it is a war against the society as the spate of insecurity and its consequences are incarcerating, the leaders are callous and are desperate to sustain their selfish hegemony by crook and hook. No peace at heart, no peace at home, no peace in the streets. Revelation of stolen monies in millions is a gory picture of the kind of leaders we have. Those in power presently are of the same feather, they are only covering their tracks. The people are helpless today but their prayers will reach the magnificent Lord Who shall deal with all that inflict pains on His people.

Leaving behind these pedantic artificial celebrations, soon will the glorious month of fasting reach us. It will be great we are there so that we can truly reconnect with our Lord, reenergize ourselves, petition Allah (SWT) on whatever is our worries, as individuals and as a nation. It is a time to celebrate the soul before the Lord. It is a period to salvage the souls from all corruptions. It is a period when mercy is practically manifested. The children and the workers are shown genuine mercy.

The leaders’ hearts are softened. They spare few times to attend the mosques. They spend some monies to put smiles on the face of the hungry.
But why can they continue with the spirit of Ramadan after Ramadan? Do they forget that every Ramadan is a reminder of serious accountability? Do they realize that this may be their last Ramadan? Then, what shall they tell Allah (SWT) when they meet Him?

Enough of all these sinful acts, your days are numbered as we draw closer to Ramadan. Be conscious of Allah (SWT) in all that you do. Beware of the final end – the grave. You will travel alone and there shall be no escort. The reality will dawn on you but it will be too late to amend. Think now of how you want to meet your Lord!

If as adults and NL members, we find it difficult to upload our true images, why then should we be encouraged to upload images of little and underage kids for Christ sake our loved ones? Nah, I strongly object to this and ths MOD should be warned on placing such topics on FP.

I had to pet her with my phone she started unlocking after watching me twice while I unlocked it to watch funny videos and few cartoons I had on it. When your kid is smart, it's a bonus and you will need to play harder before u can deceive them. I left while she was sleeping with her one leg placed on my traveling bag
