sammhi:

stop being a fool displaying crass ignorance...
will Texas share it's oil with California? or is Texas sovereign state.?
if the oil was in Sokoto, kano Bauchi. etc woukd they share it with Rivers, Edo etc? Never
even in Lagos, The omonile tax you (illegally)for every land you buy aand even when you are building..what has been done about that?
Hypocrisy at its best...
the best and fair way is let every state manage it's resources and pay tax to the Central govt. period

Polarity thinking is simple and looks smart because it condenses every question into yes or no. Reality is in fact more nuanced than that, but for a generation that thinks in 140 words or less, popular sound bites repeated without examination are a sure way to "likes" which is the preferred currency.

Anyway let's cut to the chase.

The under development of the Nigerian space is not a matter of words in a constitution but rather a failure of leadership at all levels. Solving the inequities of Nigerian society will not come through changing the words of a constitution but changing human behaviour - the same human behaviour the anti corruption drive is trying to effect that is being met with "witch hunt" "leave our son alone" which quite frankly is ridiculous - just like saying "leave our tyrant alone, he's our tyrant not yours"

Who is asking where allocations made over the last 16 years plus 13% derivations have been spent in the niger delta? Lagos is fifth on the allocation list, the top four states being niger delta states. Who is asking where the various additional sums coming from specialised agencies for the niger delta have been spent? For goodness sake Tompolo was paid ONE BILLION per month! Now I would love to see that guys village, it must look like Monaco or the Frent Riviera. Where is the investment by state governors, local government, specialised agencies headed by indigenous or even characters like Tompolo himself?

You see where this going? Now stay with me please.

Now, if rationality leads us to the conclusion that in spite of the sheer brigandry that has taken place in the niger delta, nigeria's central government should say look here's your state, own the resources and do what you like are we likely to see MORE development than we have seen in the last 16 years? The answer is no. What we are likely to see is war between various groups. The guns are already there, the distribution of wealth isnt. Now some might say - look let us fight if we want, after all its our war! The answer of any reasonable government would be " we are sorry, but it is our business" if we have you as neighbours and with the weapons you can now buy, your problems are our problems.

So it's not about resource control. It's about leadership and moral integrity. You love your people? Then don't steal massive sums from them. Fix corruption, you fix nigeria, fix nigeria, you fix inequity, fix inequity you fix the niger delta. That's non polarity thinking.

The constitution itself is meant to be a moral compass for leaders, so for you to say the failure of failing state of the Nigerian state is not of words of constitution but failure of leadership shows you don't have deep understanding of issues, being beautiful with words doesn't translate to wisdom my dear.
This is a Nigerian constitution that gives immunity to governors to steal and steal without being questioned.

This is the same Nigerian constitution that punishes stealing more than corruption (I hope you know there is difference between stealing and corruption according to Nigerian constitution, that is if you ever checked it out anyway). The political elites knows this, they carved the constitution to help themselves to steal money conviniently.
Let me take a break

To the issue of corruption, nobody is against fighting corruption, what people are against is partisanship.
The same way I would love to see dansuki in gaol in the same way I would love to see fashola is gaol. They are both criminals, only that one is smarter than the other or should I say one belongs to opposition. I work under one of the sector fashola presides over and I am still aware of some of the dirty deals he is still doing under this new administration of "change".
whoever comes to equity must come with clean hands, I remember when the apc conducted their "dollarized" primary last year, I am sure you know that non of the principal actors of that dollar primary has been arrested. What we say is APC is as worst as PDP. Buhari maybe a saint but his utterances in the past as presented him as someone likely to be biased, He once told us abacha never stole.. Can you imagine? . So he has even failed the leadership test of integrity.

Finally to tompolo, the nigerdelta militants are worse as ex Nigerian generals like ty danjuma that were illegally awarded oil wells in the nigerdelta. Alot of criminals made fortune from criminal oil well allocation and you expect the inhabitants of the land to fold their hands and not device their own criminal means of participating in the oil crime.. Comon think think..
You mentioned that a tompolo a criminal gets paid 1billion naira per month, I also know a criminal like ty danjuma that made $1billion= 323billion naira (that's like over 300months = 25years of what tompolo collects) and his own community too can't be compared to Monaco.
