Buhari Suffering From Meniere’s Disease - Mezie Times by Nobody: 7:15pm On May 30, 2016
THE nationwide presidential broadcast on May 29 have revealed much more than the political and economic challenges before President Muhammadu Buhari.

Investigation has revealed that the President who looked very sick and weak while delivering the broadcast to also mark his first year in office is suffering from a rare ear disease known as Meniere’s disease.

Recall that President Buhari had on May 22 called off a scheduled visit to Lagos due to an ear infection.

Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu while confirming the cancellation however did not make any reference to the disease.

A presidential source, confided that it was a disturbing “ear infection”.

As the impact of the reported disease takes its toll on the President, a presidential villa source confirmed that the President managed to spend only a few hours in the office throughout last week.

“He comes to the office late and closes by 4pm now”.

“The major source of concern for the presidential handlers last week was the possibility of the president suffering a serious dizzy spell in a public event. The decision was then taken to restrict his public appearances all through the week”.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the first source to raise alarm concerning the President's illness.

MEZIE TIMES' Correspondent who monitored an interview the President had with Proprietors of Nigerian Newspapers last weekend observed that the President hardly spoke out to questions thrown at him.

According to Wikipedia, Ménière’s disease is a disorder of the inner ear that usually affects both hearing and balance. “It is characterized by episodes of vertigo and by fluctuating or permanent tinnitus and hearing loss. The condition affects people differently. It can range in intensity from being a mild annoyance to a disabling disease.” The immediate cause of the disease is endolymphatic hydrops.

Vertigo is when a person feels as if they or the objects around them are moving when they are not. Often it feels like a spinning or swaying movement. This may be associated with nausea, vomiting, sweating, or difficulties walking. It is typically worsened when the head is moved. Vertigo is the most common type of dizziness.

Tinnitus is the hearing of sound when no external sound is present.

While often described as a ringing, it may also sound like a clicking, hiss or roaring. Rarely, unclear voices or music are heard. The sound may be soft or loud, low pitched or high pitched and appear to be coming from one ear or both.

Most of the time, it comes on gradually. In some people, the sound causes depression, anxiety or interferes with concentration.

Endolymphatic hydrops is a disorder of the vestibular system, which is part of the inner ear. The symptoms include the feeling of pressure or fullness in the ears, hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and balance problems.

Patients may also experience additional symptoms related to irregular reactions of the autonomic nervous system. These symptoms are not symptoms of Meniere’s disease per se, but rather are side effects resulting from failure of the organ of hearing and balance, and include nausea, vomiting, and sweating. Others are uncontrollable rhythmical and jerky eye movements, usually in the horizontal plane, reflecting the essential role of the non-visual input by the organ of balance in coordinating eye movements, high stress and anxiety.

Nigerians sympathetic toward the president over his failing health have been wishing him quick recovery.

-The sorry state of the economy is enough to make him sick.

-There's honour in letting the younger person take charge.

-The president should resign so the younger vice can take charge.

I only laugh with pity when I here people criticize Buhari's looks during the presidential speech. There is no leader who is truly working for his people that looks hearty and supple while governing. I remember obama's 1st tenure when everybody thot he was sick. Its not an easy task to be president especially in a multi-cultural and multi-religious country like nigeria, that has its own brand of catastrophic problems
