ABUJA – Presidency Thursday refuted claims in some quarters that president Mohammadu Buhari canceled his trip to Ogoniland, Rivers State for the commencement oil spillage clean up exercise in the region.

It rather stated that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo represented the president at the occasion.

It will be recalled that the presidential movement to the oil rich land had been widely publicized that even the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on the eve of the trip on Wednesday made a broadcast, calling for calm and support for the president.

But at the eleventh hour Wednesday night after his advanced team had arrived Ogoniland, the president detailed his deputy to perform the ritual.

But responding to enquiries by Vanguard on why the president failed to appear in person, his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said that he was represented at the event by his deputy.

“We all went to school. There is a difference between cancellation and being represented by someone. The president did not cancel his trip to Ogoniland. He was represented by the Vice President”, Adesina said.

the Oil in the Niger Delta is what caused Nigeria problem. the problem in Nigeria is nothing but greed. there are people who don't just want the states in Niger Delta to grow ahead of them. example are the west and north. this two region are the problem of this country. socking blood.

let go back to the drawing board. the earlier we tell ourselves the truth. and the better for the future of this country. otherwise we will keep delaying the future of this great country. security should be a state or regional problem and not federal government.

if the yoruba in western Nigeria happens to be sitting on the Niger Delta oil well they wouldn't have allowed northerners to owned their well.

Femi Adesina must be really stupid to think we don't know the difference between cancellation and sending someone to represent you.
Even if there's a big world of difference between both, the fact is that buhari chickened out of he well publicized trip for fear of being killed. Not that I blame him, I probably would have done same too if if were in his position but trying to insult us is just silly.

If buhari was going to set Osinbajo to represent him, why allow yourself to be used for the publicity?
