The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai has said that the Nigerian Army requires well trained and competent personnel capable of confronting the security challenges the country is currently facing.

Buratai who was represented by the Chief of Training and Operations, Army Headquarters, Maj Gen Hassan Umaru stated this while declaring open the second Commanding Officers counter-terrorism workshop yesterday at the Headquarters, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.

The COAS noted that the nature of fighting war has greatly changed and usually takes place in very complex environment characterized by human catastrophe and economic downturn.

“ It is therefore worthy of note that the warfare emplaced by Boko Haram terrorists and other criminal groups calls for proactive measures by all security stakeholders to overcome them.

“ Thus trainings such as this Commanding Officers’ Workshop seek to redress the challenges of asymmetrical warfare now confronting the nation”, the Army Boss said.

He commended the GOC 82 Division and other Commanders in their efforts to see that the 2016 second Commanding Officers’Workshop is actualised.

In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army whose unit is hosting the workshop, Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru said the event brings together Commanding Officers from the Nigerian Army units and other security stakeholders in order to enable them rub minds and compare notes on the issues of security currently confronting the nation.

We all know it requires well trained and eqiuped personnel..


The question is what is he doing to achieve this Goal

and boost morale and possibly allowances of Our able soldiers who are risking

their lives for their country......
