good morning beautiful people. Admist my tight schedules, I must keep the promise cos I know lots of people r following d thread to know d price trend and when to buy/ store. d price is a bit shaky buh Dis is how it goes: its 16500 from my base, a colleague said it's selling for 22k @ enugu. some pple in ngwa(abia state) offered 20k. Ikom axis and other parts of cross river is 17k. kogi(igala oil) sales for 23500.Edo and Ekiti villages are still selling for 19k. this price are just from suppliers calling to offer supplies to me. it may differ a Lil buh Dats d margin. its still on a high side for those wanting to store, it wud hopefully drop with time to a reasonable and uniform price. let's wait to hear from our madam@peeo from her location. God bless us.

Hey bro, I mentioned u earlier on my thread. Tomorrow is the big market where we get kegs hopefully at a reduced price while Friday is the palm oil market, let's keep our fingers cross. I know it would reduce more than the #16-#16,500 margin
Hw re u doing sir?.

I wud advice u store in PLASTIC drums. don't waste money for kegs now until u meet your clients and finalize on what class of kegs he/she wants.its best to gv them what they want.
How much is the plastic drum assumed to be in march...and wont it be much better to store in 25lts or 30lts keg.....I'm planning to start this business this year as I'm even going to the east (to buy )but with all the knowledge i have gained here which I'm thankful for I decided to hold off till April.
But my question is how do I make a steady sale and supply all year round instead of storing to be sold off just in december.cos I intend to let a shop and sell palm and groundnut oil all year-round.. Please how do I achieve this and also make profit.as the money I intend to start with is a loan that i need to refund back within a year.
God bless.
Please any major groundnut oil distributor should quote me preferably...power oil, kings oil,Wesson and mamador oil

hmmmm how do I start. OK I wud commend your decision to take risk and be different from others. Now to ur first question, a plastic drum costs around 4500 buh since u r planning to let a shop then storing them in 25/30 litres isn't bad. to mk steady sales, ur price must be relatively lower than that of ur competitors. you can only achieve this if u Hv identified a good and sincere supplier. also the quality you sale wud play a big role. frankly speaking, sales all year round has to do with wisdom. know when to buy much or few so you don't run at a loss. d calendar I posted earlier cud be of help. once we begin d ember months, its advisable u store some quantity. this will of course save u d stress of searching for palm oil to buy when d price skyrocks by Nov - dec let alone d double profit u wud be making since u wud be saling @ d prevailing price. Finally u wud discover with time DAT most finks pple say bout palm oil bizz is false, its one of d most profitable businesses u cud ever fink of. adding Veg oil means u r sure to sale each DAT irrespective of d recession cos "man must eat". the risk of traveling to d east to source for oil can be avoided if you identify a good supplier. work on that and d rest wud be testimonies. wishing u all d best

oil price is increasing again as expected. dealers are advised to store what would carry them through February before d price finally falls.

gud a.m family, am gradually observing a new trend about palm oil storage business on Nairaland. d idea is cool buh its very impossible to state d price of palm oil even before d season. if u r interested in storage, be careful of fraudsters and possibly visit d mill before payment. this is to ensure DAT d quality stored wud have a long shelf life and also ascertain DAT d oil is actually stored. its more preferred if u can transport d oil to your location for storage than leave it with d contractor. I've spent @least a decade in this business and am advising from experience. Apologies for being away too long, I've been quite busy wif supplies.God bless us.

90% of callers wants to know how to identify a good oil. well I wud do my best in explaining d Lil I know here. although there r several ways of identifying quality palm oil, d common and quickest method still remains d odour method.
here all u need do is gently perceive d odour from d oil, a good oil has a usual fresh fragrance. d fragrance is usually accompanied wif mild palm kernel nut aroma that signifies its just been processed. its quite simple to differentiate since d bad ones usually have a sharp pungent smell buh u can only become perfect wif practice.
the next method is d stearin/olein ratio: most good edible oil usually has very large volume of d lighter olein portion compared to d thicker portion. this is such that, it would not congeal @ room temperatures or even when refrigerated. this means u can simply check if d oil is sleeping but be careful to also notice whether it is warm or cold cos most pple r now using chemicals to prevent d oil from sleeping just to deceive customers.

Another method I know of is usually a plain paper test. a good oil contains less moisture. so just dip ur finger into d oil and test d moisture content using a plain sheet. a good oil wif less moisture wud not wet d paper too much or better still, pour some quantity of d oil into a clean dry bottle, pour it off and observe d bottle. a good oil wud easily poor off without adhering to d bottle walls buh a bad oil wud not.
finally, d commonest method is by tasting buh if d quantity is large, trust me you must be ready to drink enough oil though. this r d ones I know and use, am expecting @peeo,@uboma,@kmaxx and other dealers to mk their contributions. happy Sunday to everyone and God bless our hussles

My oga, i dey hail o! Thanks for d mention sir. My manager wanted to load d 100 kegs of oil going to lagos so i asked 2 inspect, as i opened few kegs d aroma of freshly made oil filled d air. You could also perceive something like d aroma of burnt palm kernel. I tell people that the only way to knowing good oil is BY TRAINING YOUR NOSE AND NOT YOUR TONGUE. Sacrifice little cash to buy bad oil, then buy d good oil too. Do a continous job of perceiving both till u become used to it. Shikena!
