Editor’s Note: Transport minister and former governor of Rivers state Rotimi Amaechi is a controversial political figure who attracts great controversy, but is their an organised political witch hunt against him? Is he being shielded by President Muhammadu Buhari? Tope Michael examines the case. Whenever the military officers and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party who looted the national wealth are exposed, invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or charged to court, some hack writers are quick to accuse the Buhari government of political witchhunt and selective persecution. In particular, the government of President Buhari is accused of shielding Mr Rotimi Amaechi from prosecution. While not defending Buhari or Amaechi, it is necessary to point out that the Wike government in Rivers state has been challenged by Amaechi to charge him to court if he has evidence that he stole a dime while he was governor of Rivers state for eight years. Since Governor Wike set up a judicial commission of enquiry which probed and indicted Amaechi why has he not directed his Attorney General to file charges against Amaechi in the high court of Rivers state? Similarly, after his inauguration in October 2014 the lousy Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose accused ex-governor Kayode Fayemi of building a N3 billion governor’s lodge in a poor state like Ekiti. But instead of converting the lavish mansion into a 5-star hotel at Ado Ekiti Mr Fayose is presently living in the place. What a hypocrite! The fellow too has cried out that Dr Fayemi looted the treasury of the poor state. Since Mr. Fayose claims to have evidence of Dr. Fayemi’s looting spree why has he not directed his Attorney-General of Ekiti State to drag the ex- governor to the high court in Ekiti state for corruption?

Don't Mind the Wailers. Small thing they will shout Witch Hunt but can't back up their shouts with facts. Wike hates Amaechi more than all of u but he still can't get evidence against Amaechi so u guys should relax for one side and allow Amechi to focus.

Op you're a joker. This is what happens when our youths insist on been pawns in the hands of politicians. You almost made some sense with your opening arguments. But down the line you watered down to a beer parlor discussion. Next time stay on track and provide a constructive analysis. Lack of it makes you look or sound funny.

How many ex governors have you heard that are charged to court? EFCC should do the needful investigate like they do to others invite him for questioning, get warrants from the magistrate court to lock him up For weeks or better still don't release him like Dasuki.

Every time you guys come out to shout take him to court, no we should do it the EFCC way. There is no witch hunt there.

Another sponsored article and mumuish point of view. Just recently, EFCC sealed the native house of former Ebonyi State Governor without waiting for the incumbent Governor to prosecute him.

APC is taking Nigerians for a ride and a time for social revolution is here to ensure that Madam Justice never see as Buhari's government is untying the blindfold to pervert justice for his cronies.

Then maybe they should petition the efcc if they feel they mismanaged state fund in anyway and let the public know if the efcc refuse to take due action..I think efcc is more into federal fund (campaign fund)...

So what about the APC campaign funds ? Is that a now go area, what we should be working towards in this country is how we strengthen institutions like EFCC to independent, not an arm or tool of the presidency, they shouldn't be called or petition to do their job.

If we continue like this we would destroy this count because of personal gains, I have never in any way directly or indirectly benefited from this politicians, most of you here are working for them, we try and apply fairness in all we do, if EFCC is looking at the PDP campaign funds they should do same to all other parties, this pattern of fighting just your opposition while a lot of your members are neck deep in corruption is wrong, after PMB leaves office are we going talk about fighting corruption again, or if APC wins in 2019 what will they be shouting then, or will then still be blaming the previous govt.

It's never too late to do the right thing, but this path Is leading to destruction if we continue like this, if we desire peace in this nation then we should fight against injustice.

PDP Govt : all thieves are walking freely.

APC Govt : PDP thieves are prosecuted.

No matter how much u scream, I prefer APC's own.

NO PDP thief ever denied stealing.

There is nothing like " I NO BE THIEF" what u hear is "WHO NO BE THIEF?"

And the poor masses whose 250 years salary was stolen by one man are shouting WITCH hunt
