to enjoy egusi, you need to make it richly. expensive egusi is  kiss unlike poor man's egusi. Ogbono, not too expensive to cook. with good amt of dried cat fish and crayfish, you are set for a good meal  cool

~Ogbono Soup Looks very similar to *"Krain Krain" Soup going by the pic. . . .

~*Krain Krain is some kind of african veggie similar to spanish . . it's whole green leaves from the Jute plant : It  is mostly eaten w/ FuFu/Eba or Rice. . it's some kind of "Draw" soup

Re: Egusi Soup Vs Obgono Soup by muedewor: 9:27pm On Sep 14, 2009
Egusi is especially nice wit pounded yam.
But all in all,I'd go with Ogbono.
But not the way yoruba's make it.

I like ogbono Niger-Delta style!
Possibly mixed wit okro.
You gotta love it!
Re: Egusi Soup Vs Obgono Soup by maedan(f): 10:58pm On Sep 14, 2009
@muedewor, so true!! Went to a friend's house and she cooked ogbono with ugu and okra and it was so rich and tasty! Since then I try it out once in a while when I want a change. Mix all that veg with the other condiments of meat and dried fish---hmmmn, culinary heaven! How can egusi beat that, huh? cheesy
Re: Egusi Soup Vs Obgono Soup by ceasyc(f): 8:08am On Sep 15, 2009

if you're cooking the real ogbono then you don't need to complement it with okro.
