giles14: lol no arms deal r not sum zero games these r games within a game within a game within a game............. why do u think PM modi visited Russia before the upcoming visit to US. as i said before arms deal/negotiations r a ploy to ensure geo-political concessions. it is a matter of who blinks first and whose interests r served better importantly the tender for the SE aircraft has not been opened till date. so the F16 can end up as a dud after all it will be clear after modi / trump meet 1 Like |

tdayof: unfortunately no anyways who do u think will win in a dogfight provided the typhoon is able to survive long enough in BVR inorder to get into a merge with the F22 ? F22 has very good advantage of first look first kill in BVR |

Multi-Mode Hand Grenade - Shivalik developed by DRDO Modular in design: Two modules, i.e, fuze and main body, light in weight: Gross weight is 490 g in defensive mode and 260 g in offensive mode. serves as both Offensive and defensive grenade i.e Lethal radius of 3 to 5 m from point of burst in offensive mode. In defensive mode, it incapacitates human being with in the radius of 8-10 m from the point of burst Uniform fragmentation pattern. More number of fragments (>4000) embedded in plastic matrix to provide higher splinter density of fragments. Time delay 3 sec and arming delay of 0.5 sec provides additional safety to the thrower. Maintenance free and highly reliable. Operational temperature range of -20 ºC to 55 ºC and storage temperature range of -50 C to 75 C . Mechatronic fuze for multi-mode hand grenade operates in three modes, viz., time delay, impact, and dual. Pre-launch safeties have been provided through mechanical components whereas post launch safeties and intelligence have been incorporated using embedded system based electronic hardware and software. The detonator is misaligned with the rest of the explosive train during storage and transportation. The fuze is powered by primary lithium battery. The fuze has been designed to withstand accidental drop for thrower’s safety. The time delay for arming and initiation of detonator is factory settable with a high precision. The fuze has a provision of self-discharge system to avoid delayed initiation after a preset delay. note:to change from defensive mode to offensive move u just have to unscrew (remove) the outer fragmentation sleeve and vice versa 1 Like

Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 8:45am On Jun 20, 2017 |
tdayof: another thing BVR is like fools gold, most of the time every fighter will have to get into the merge for a fool proof kill. visual identification of targets becomes paramount when the airspace is dynamic and fast paced with multiple actors from both sides crisscrossing all over u , in such a scenario BVR becomes a liability ,only way out is WVR , and only WVR missiles can assure relatively high probability kill with their high NEZ. also note this is why Israelis tend to make their BVRAAMs both LOBL and LOAL capable LOBL capability of BVRAAM is akin to a WVRAAM most of the time. so dont fall for western marketing tactics |

L&T Launches Indian Navy’s Floating Dock it is basically a dockyard built on a ship and can move from one naval base to another to undertake repair , build and maintenance needs of naval ships and submarines. it is usually used were land/ infra is not available for a regular dockyard. The Floating Dock, which is the first Naval shipbuilding project for L&T, is 185m long and 40m wide, and is designed for docking Indian Naval ships and submarines of up to 8000 T displacement with draughts of up to 7 m, during both day and night. Simultaneous docking of multiple ships, and off-centre docking options are also feasible. The dock, which conforms to internationally accepted norms, incorporates a fully automated ballast control system, inducting state-of-the-art technology in its equipment. The Floating Dock has been designed as a versatile dock that can be installed either along a jetty or moored in calm waters enabling round-the-year operation. It is provided with a hauling-in system to handle a ship’s docking and undocking operations. It can also support ships berthed along its side and meet their logistics requirements. On completion of its launch at Kattupalli, FDN-2 would be put through a series of harbour trials before delivery to the Navy. Once operationalised, it would enhance the technical repair infrastructure of the Navy for ships based at the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as well as for visiting Naval ships.

Reliance Defence signs warship repair pact with US Navy to maintain Seventh Fleet Under a deal announced on 1st week of February 2017, India will become a major service and repair hub for the US Seventh Fleet. Reliance Defence and Engineering announced that it has signed a “Master Ship Repair Agreement” with the Pentagon to service and repair Seventh Fleet warships and supply and patrol vessels at its shipyard at Pipavav, in the western Indian state of Gujarat. According to a Reliance official, the shipyard stands to carry out as much as 100 billion rupees (US$1.3 billion) worth of work for the US Navy over the next five years. Hitherto, maintenance and repairs on the Seventh Fleet have been carried out in Japan and Singapore.Reliance Shipyard has been selected after a detailed site survey by US Government representatives in end October 2016, the statement said. funnily Washington used the Seventh Fleet to threaten India during the December 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. |

kikuyu1: provided the economic benefits r there, as i have always said a strong military industrial complex is feasible if u have a strong civilian industrial complex to hedge on during difficult times. example: if a shipyard has a strong business run in manufacturing civilian ships like tankers, cargo ships etc, then financially it becomes strong enough to under take construction of military ships simply due to economies of scale and capacity build up. if a shipyard only carries out military contracts then it becomes very difficult to maintain sound financial health as the profits earned from such contracts r not enough to sustain manpower and capability in the long run. Indian military aerospace has been suffering from this very problem, without adequate civilian aerospace products to give u sustained profits , it becomes risky for civilian companies to commit into billion dollar military aerospace business. investment is too big to risk without secondary benefits from the civilian sector/market both local or global. also last 30 years Indian spent billions of dollars and man hours to build the infrastructure and experience (pedigree) necessary to design and build locally all kinds of military equipment's.the results could have been better but due to incompetent governments of the past and stupid bureaucracy it was delayed. i still remember when the AKASH SAM was being developed , India faced a hurdle with a stimulation software required to test the flight control / flight paths / modes of a SAM. India approached America Russia European countries for help , everybody turned them down becz such software are closely guarded secrets. later 2 Indian scientists took up the challenge and developed the software which contained around million lines of code successfully within 1 and a half years. there r so many similar stories , lol the Americans even said India did not have the competency to design and fly a combat jet, they even launched a media tirade against LCA just couple of days before LCA was about to make her first flight saying it was doomed to fail. they forget 25-30 % of their top defence scientists r Indians ( an naturalized Indian even headed their DARPA ), only thing India lacked was the funding , the test facilities /resources which they have now , not all but it is a on going work. anyways me and colleagues were pressing for Indian involvement with African countries to take up defence related projects initially small through private companies and later with public sector companies on both sides, it would cut down costs, help in localization , ensure bidirectional flow of finances and talent . most importantly the geo political implications r huge. problem is india is tied down with the 2 nuclear armed countries , so priority is always to address them from the point of security. lets see 2 Likes |

rafale upgrade roadmap anyways looks like french is willing to sell IN 70 Rafales for the same price of 36 IAF rafale (batch 1) already ordered provided IAF agrees to commit to buying another 36 rafale (batch 2) later on. IN 70 rafale is actually 57 carrier borne rafales for IN, rest 13 r for IAF maritime strike squadron (replacing the maritime jaguars) all this under MII (make in india) category 1 Like

man the pic below is really ridiculous a highly dangerous 'smiling' man with suspicious looking long hair is being arrested by 4 stalwarts of the local police department in SF type operation equipped with gas masks , NVG, CQB assault rifles, backpacks and riggings loaded with grenades or what not . man that is serious overkill to the point of being stupid . looks more like a fancy dress competition. anyways i would have arrested that dangerous fellow highly armed with 'nothing' ,with only a bag filled with spicy popcorn and a can of beer at my side and may be a promise to fund him for his long overdue visit to the barbershop. see easy pesy PS:looks like the local police department was a big beneficiary of the US military war surplus weapons disposal program.and they grasped it with open arms. plus looks like they also raided the next door CD rent shop for some Rambo movies oh i dont see stryker type "tactical vehicle" with bushmaster cannons, MRAPs with remote weapon stations, guess they must be stuck in the traffic 4 Likes

They probably imagine India still goes to battle with elephants while thugees rule all the villages. Even here many whites insist Kibera is our only national face. The 2nd confirms what I've concluded from your posts: you have an active tech background on the arms man'f side and even better you and your team have a vision you're actively following. Ohh well;at least I know the first Indo Kenyan gunship won't be a 45 mn$ HCH capable of performing loops! 1 Like |

a NATO F-16 Approached The Russian Defence Minister's Plane who was escorted by russian Su-27, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYvP82D_qYI a comment found on the video : This is the standard procedure, followed by both pilots. Flanker came close, flashed the guns, then backed away to shooting position....each and every warning light on board F16, lighted like the Christmas three when it got targeted by Flanker's radar. There are safety procedures, so if F16 runs, that means he is engaging, but if he moves slowly, that means: everything is ok, I am not a an enemy. |

copy paste India's 'eye in the sky' is set to become sharper and wider with the launch of a third spacecraft in Cartosat-2 series -- a dedicated satellite for defence forces -- from the Sriharikota spaceport tomorrow. The previous satellite in the series had a resolution of 0.8 metres and the images it took on India's neighbourhood had helped New Delhi carry out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control last year, ISRO sources said. The latest remote sensing satellite slated to be launched on board PSLV-C38 tomorrow morning has a resolution of 0.6 metres, which means it can spot even smaller objects. "It can recognise objects within that square (0.6 m by 0.6 m)", an ISRO official told PTI on condition of anonymity. "Defence surveillance will get a leg-up. It can be used in identifying terrorist camps and bunkers... Some formations." Once this satellite becomes operational, it would be "handed over" to the defence forces, which have their own "set up," including ground-stations and trained manpower to access data. On the need to have a third satellite in the series, the official said, "The revisit time is the one which determines your data accessibility. More the number of satellites, the better and shorter revisit time you will have and more data you will get." "They (Cartosat-2 series) are agile satellites - agile in the sense they can take pictures of the place that you want, you can choose and programme it," he said. According to ISRO, the latest spacecraft is similar in configuration to earlier satellites in the series with the "objective of providing high-resolution scene specific spot imagery." The 28-hour countdown for the launch of Cartosat-2 series satellite along with 30 co-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh began at 5.29 am today. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its 40th flight (PSLV-C38), would launch the 712 kg Cartosat-2 series satellite for earth observation and 30 co-passenger satellites together weighing about 243 kg at lift-off into a 505 km polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO) at 09.20 hours tomorrow, the ISRO officials said. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ note: official resolution is always downgraded , true resolution is always classified |
