SIGMA Corvette Damen is offering for Project Biro:

Very sexy boats. Morocco has 3 SIGMA Corvettes in service, and they are classified as multi-mission boats. I also like the fact Damen offers to build their ships in the buyers country, and they also offer Ship design sale.

The Indonesian Frigate is so modern. It was launched in September. The Indonesian shipbuilder, PT PAL, got their designs for their KCR-40, KCR-60 and SIGMA Frigate all from Damen.

Anti-radiation drone?

SA designed something similar in the 90s.

There's also an Israeli one.
it could be with IR seeker,or multi-guidences.
China bought israeli drone harpy with anti-radiation seeker in early 2000's and got the technology.

The progress the Chinese have made in their fighter program is nothing short of biblical!! It is massive!

How do the Chinese do it, even the greatest China skeptic has to awe in admiration of the progress the Chinese have made in the J-20 fighter program.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Air Force F14 and Mig29 fighters as well as Falcon 50 jets exercised combat operations and electronic warfare tactics on the second day of the massive wargames in the Central province of Isfahan on Tuesday.
"At this stage, the operations to jam simulated enemy radar waves were successfully carried out using electronic-warfare special Falcon 50 jets under a research project named Sayeh (shadow)," Spokesman of the Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Velayat-6 wargames Brigadier General Massoud Rouzkhosh said Tuesday.

"Also, the F14 and Mig29 fighter jets successfully exercised combat situations in a real-like battle scene in the operations," he added.

The Iranian Air Force kicked off 3 days of military drills in Central Iran on Monday.

A variety of Air Force fighter jets, fighter bombers, transport planes, reconnaissance aircraft, drones and refueling planes took part in the military exercises today.

The drills started at the order of Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Alireza Barkhor.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in manufacturing essential military hardware and defense systems.

Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

The Iranian Air Force displayed several squadrons of its operational fleet in an air show on the national Army Day in April.

Different types of fighter jets and fighter bombers took part in the air show staged over the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, South of the capital Tehran.

The home-made 'Saeqeh' (Thunderbolt) fighter jets as well as F4, F5, F7, F14 and Mig 29 fighter jets in several squadrons flew over the sky of Southern Tehran.

Aerial refueling operation was also conducted by a Boeing 707 refueling tanker aircraft to an F4 and two F14 fighter jets during the air show.

Also, different helicopters, including Chinook, Cobra 206 and Cobra 214 flew over the military parade zone.

What did the upgrade include?

130mm barrel is switched to 155m 45 cal barrel from improved and upgraded bofors (dhanush now available in 45 and 52 caliber)
under carriage is strengthened
better electronics and optical devices included
breech block also changed i think

the upgrade enables higher angle of elevation for firing
now modular charges can be used i think

significant range increase
rate of fire increased including sustained rate of fire

etc
etc

info not available, India operates both NATO and Russian dumb bombs , so practically Indians would like it to be compatible to both .

recently two drop trials was held on august 18th, the test of Garudaa, the non-winged glide-bomb, was carried out to evaluate its precision for a range of 30 kilometres . In another set of drop trials on 19th, both Garudaa and 'Garuthmaa' were successfully tested from a Su-30 MKI aircraft.

Garuthmaa, the 1,000-kg winged smart glide bomb, was tested for its maximum 100-km range.

Garudaa the non-winged version of this guided bomb with a range of 30 kilometres was tested initially three years back.

SAAW smart anti airfield weapon is another one , 4 of them can be carried on a single weapons pylon of an aircraft .

development and testing of these was continuing from last 3 years but it was kept under wraps.

pic 1 This is the non-winged glide bomb, Garudaa. The Glide bombs seem to be GPS/INS guidance only.

pic 2 it is the PG Kit for 1000lb HSLD/NG-LGB similar to the SPICE PGM but having SALH guidance along with GPS/INS guidance.

Danes have a well-deserved reputation for designing and building efficient, effective ships on tight budgets.

The forward superstructure is dominated by the Thales Active Phased Array Multifunction Radar (APAR), able to simultaneously support anti-air and anti-surface engagements.

The Danish frigate is 455 feet long overall, 65 feet in beam, with a draft of nearly 21 feet. Major hull components were built in Lithuania and Estonia and assembled in Denmark.

The ship’s clean lines are functional, reducing reflective surfaces to lower the ship’s radar signature.

The missile bay amidships is fitted with three different types of launchers. At center is a new 32-cell Mark 41 Vertical Launch System from Lockheed Martin, able to handle Standard SM-2 and SM-6 missiles. The weapons have yet to be purchased, however, and the system is not yet operational. Flanking the Mark 41 are two Raytheon Mark 56 missile launchers to handle Evolved Sea Sparrow (ESSM) anti-air missiles. Just visible in the foreground are the support structures for Boeing Harpoon surface-to-surface missiles. Both the Mark 56 and Harpoon launchers come from decommissioned ships.

Zumwalt: Inside the U.S. Navy's New "First-Of-Its-Kind," Super Stealth Destroyer

The Navy's new "first-of-its-kind," high-tech stealthy destroyer, armed with the most lethal weapons ever engineered onto a surface ship, is slated for commissioning on Saturday Oct. 15, in Baltimore, Md.

The ship will soon go to San Diego, Calif., where it will go through what’s called “ship activation" - a process of integrating the major systems and technologies on the ship leading up to an eventual live-fire exercise of its guns and missiles.

As part of this process, the Navy will eventually fire long-range precision guns and missiles from its lethal, stealthy new destroyer -- in anticipation of its ultimate deployment on the open seas, service and industry officials explained.

The new Destroyer, called DDG 1000 or the future USS Zumwalt, is a 610-foot land and surface warfare attack ship designed with a stealthy, wave-piercing “tumblehome” hull.

On Friday May 20, 2016, the new ship was formally delivered to the Navy at Bath Iron Works in Portland, Maine.

“The shape of the superstructure and the arrangement of its antennas significantly reduce radar cross section, making the ship less visible to enemy radar at sea,” a Navy statement said.

"The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of the most technically complex and advanced warship the world has ever seen," Rear Adm. (select) James Downey, DDG 1000 Program Manager, said in a written statement.

Several reports have indicated that ships off the coast of Maine recently thought the DDG 1000 was a small fishing boat due to its stealthy design. That is precisely the intent of the ship – it seeks to penetrate enemy areas, delivery lethal attack while remaining undetected by enemy radar. The ship is engineered for both land attack and open water surface warfare, Navy officials explain.

(This first appeared in Scout Warrior here.)

“In the next phase, the Navy will be driving, connecting, integrating and proving the functionality of the ship systems such as the radar, sonar and gun. The Navy will test out the basics make sure the ship can work then by testing those components of the ship that actually make it a warship,” Wade Knudson, DDG 1000 Program Manager, Raytheon, told Scout Warrior in an interview.

“The Navy will be making sure that the propulsion system works to create the power to drive the ship at the speeds it is supposed to go.”

Ship delivery follows extensive tests, trials and demonstrations of the ship’s Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems including the ship’s boat handling, anchor and mooring systems as well as major demonstrations of the damage control, ballasting, navigation and communications systems, Navy officials said.

The ship is slated to be commissioned in Baltimore, Maryland Oct. 15.

“Zumwalt's crew has diligently trained for months in preparation of this day and they are ready and excited to take charge of this ship on behalf of the U.S. Navy," Capt. James Kirk, commanding officer of the future Zumwalt, said in a written statement.

DDG 1000 Weapons

The ship is engineered to fire Tomahawk missiles as well as torpedoes, Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile and a range of standard missiles such as the SM2, SM3 and SM6.

The ship also fires Vertical Launch Anti-Submarine Rockets, or ASROCs. ASROCs are 16-feet long with a 14-inch diameter; a rocket delivers the torpedo at very high speeds to a specific point in the water at which point it turns on its sensors and searches for an enemy submarine.

The first weapons to fire from the Mk 57 vertical launch tubes will be the ship defensive weapons called the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile and the Standard Missile 2, or SM-2.

The ship is also built with Mk 57 a vertical launch tubes which are engineered into the hull near the perimeter of the ship.

Called Peripheral Vertical Launch System, the tubes are integrated with the hull around the ship’s periphery in order to ensure that weapons can keep firing in the event of damage. Instead of having all of the launch tubes in succession or near one another, the DDG 1000 has spread them out in order to mitigate risk in the event attack, developers said.

In total, there are 80 launch tubes built into the hull of the DDG 1000; the Peripheral Vertical Launch System involves a collaborative effort between Raytheon and BAE Systems.

Also, the launchers are especially designed with software such that it can accommodate a wide range of weapons; the launchers can house one SM-2, SM-3 or SM-6, ASROCs and up to four ESSMs due to the missile’s smaller diameter, Knudson added.

“It has a common launcher to you can change the adapter or computer function which connects the ship to the missile,” he said.

The ship also has a 155mm long range, precision-capable gun called the Advanced Gun System made by BAE Systems. The weapon can, among other things, fire a munition called the Long-Range Land Attack Projectile which can strike target at ranges out to 64 nautical miles.

Most deck mounted 5-inch guns currently on Navy ships are limited to firing roughly 8-to-10 miles at targets within the horizon or what’s called line of sight. The Advanced Gun System, however, fires GPS-guided precision 155m rounds beyond-the-horizon at targets more than three times that distance.

New Sonar, Power Systems, Radar Technology.

Its a destroyer that looks great but do not have anywhere near the performance to match. In essence, another complete waste of money.
