Garmin foretrex an Outdoor GPS Watch

correct grin grin

but the product u posted is just the tip of the iceberg.

there r many different products / varients

much of the capabilities r classified and restricted.

these device r based on GPS and exploit its many functionalities

i have come across one such feature :

proximity gauge (for lack of proper words) grin

it shows the position of the wearer with respect to the other members of the unit among others. in short all such gadgets of the said unit r synchronized with each other , this helps to maintain situational awareness as well as stops one from intruding/extruding from ones pre-assigned sector of responsibility.

another feature which i have heard but not seen is the display of the status of the soldiers of the unit inter connected to each other ie dead or alive

DARPA is developing an wrist wearable device where it will implement augmented reality system with navigation points, blue forces overlaid etc etc on the wearers real world view.
something like the CORTANA from HALO games. not exactly but u get the idea grin

as promised everybody a big hooray for africaken254 grin grin grin grin

Nemesis2u, have there been confirmed BVR kills, and at what ranges?

I'm skeptical about BVR missiles, doesn't the range of the missiles give the opponent time to carry out evasive maneuvers, electronic counter-measures and jam the shit outta the missile?

HTT 40

Henry240, wondering why we can't shift our focus to the Indian HTT 40, and maybe with a JV we can get a super Tucano replacement. Armed to the teeth with Chinese or Russian weapons.

Henry24, wondering why we can't shift our focus to the Indian HTT 40, and maybe with a JV we can get a super Tucano replacement. Armed to the teeth with Chinese or Russian weapons.

There has to be first an existing military partnership before any JV can be carried out. We currently don't have that with India. Prospects for a JV, we have South-Africa with which we have an existing military JV with, although between local companies, China with which we also have an existing J.V with, Naval Shipyard Port-Harcourt and Pakistan.

In my opinion, we don't need a Super-Tucano, our requirement is for a lead-in twin engine Fighter-Trainer-Attack aircraft to replace our Alpha jets. L-15(China), Yak-130(Russia), M-346(Italy) are currently our best options.

HTT40, Super-Tucano shouldn't be a requirement in my opinion as these aircrafts are only good for COIN, LICW operations.
