1.Akinwunmi Ambode:
Recently, the governor of Lagos state banned the sale of goods in the streets popularly known as street trading. The ban was received with a lot of negative reaction by the populace who saw it as somewhat draconian especially in the face of present economic hardship being experienced in the nation. The law not only stipulated fine for the street trader,it also imposed a sanction for the buyer.
Shortly after,a picture emerged online showing the same Governor Ambode patronising a street trader during his own campaign tour. In the pics,he was seen haggling and buying roasted plantain popularly known as bole. That photo was used to endear him to the masses,to identify with the common man on the street. There is no record of him going back again to buy another bole since he won the election.

2,Iyiola Omisore
During his campaign for the office of the governor of Osun state,Omisore was pictured on the top of his SUV eating two roasted corns at the same time. 'Comical sadists' have explained that it clearly epitomises the man's level of greed. Whether its a case of 'showboating' taken too far or a clear case of his level of insatiable greed,we really can't say. But one thing we know for sure is that since the loss of the election,he has not been seen eating corns from his SUV rooftops.

3.Nasiru El' Rufai
El Rufai has never been a man known to be a grassroot man, from his days as BPE boss to FCT minister to presently the governor of Kaduna state,he has always been seen as an elitist. Hence the need to start identifying with the masses. In this picture,he was seen munching a sugar cane in full public glare. We can easily deduce that it was clearly for 'photo purposes' as we could clearly see that despite trying to 'form grassroot man',his aides and security personnel were still barricading him from the same grassroot men and women. Publicity stunt gone wrong.

4,Aisha Buhari
Prior to the 2015 Presidential elections, not much was known about Hajia Aisha Buhari. To aid her husband's victory chances, she was advised to start her own campaigns and publicity stunts to endear the masses to her. And in a few days of the start of her campaign, she stopped over at an akara(bean cake) woman's spot and guess what? She didn't just buy and eat akara from the seller,no,better still, she took over the frying of the akara from the woman.
I must confess that the stunt pulled some followers to her. Since nothing much was known about her,it was even for the populace to ajudge her as a down to earth woman especially when compared with the wife of the then incumbent president whom all has seen as elitist.
Since the victory, she hasn't gone back to help the akara seller or anyother akara seller fry any akara, instead news and accusations flying around rather shows her to be a highly sophisticated woman capable of brokering multi million dollar bribery deals.

5,Adams Oshiomole.
The most ironic of all the 'fake publicity stunts' belongs to none other than Comrade Adams Oshiomole of Edo state.
Before his ascension into office as Governor, this was a man the whole nation could vouch was a symbol of the common man. So when during his campaign,he started identifying 'with the streets',it was easy for all to believe. Nobody saw it as a publicity stunt but rather an epitome of his simplicity. In this photo, he was seen patronising a street hawker selling fried plantain chips.
Now fast forward time to when he has become governor,a video went viral of him personally supervising the demolition and confiscation of wares of the same street traders. In it,a widow was seen lying down at his feet and begging him to have mercy on her goods as she was a widow and the wares were her only means of training her children. Like a ruthless emperor, the same oshiomole looked at her with so much disdain and contempt and blurted out the now infamous sentence of 'you're a widow,so what,GO AND DIE!'

6,Adams Oshiomole and Godwin Obaseki.
2016 is an election year for Edo state and the people of Edo will go back to the ballot boxes to decide who will be their next governor.
Adams Oshiomole will need the people to vote for his anointed God son Godwin Obaseki. And their very first action after he won the APC primaries was to buy roasted corn and eat in the streets. We find it quite ironic and sad that the same Oshiomole who had whisked away the wares of the street traders while he was in power will be the first to jump into the streets to patronise them for the sake of votes.
Its either this corns were so sweet that both Obaseki and Oshiomole couldn't wait to get home, that they had to eat them in the middle of the road or its just the usual publicity stunt, afterall,'what's the special ingredient that was used in roasting this particular corns?'
It won't be a surprise if Obaseki's first act on becoming governor is the sacking and seizing of her wares.

7,Rotimi Amechi
During the 2015 elections in Rivers state, the APC and the PDP were engaged in various publicity stunts in aimed at coming out as the more populist party in the state.
But by far the most hilarious stunt was pulled by none other than Rotimi Amechi. He is known to be quite a 'drama king' and has been known for many publicity antics which included the carrying of the cross of Jesus on good friday where he put up a more gloomy face than even Christ himself. He has been seen eating in bukkas(local cafeteria) but the one that stood out most was this picture where he went into the market and randomly went to a shop where he took over the plaiting of a woman's hair. Everybody had to stand back and watch their governor plaiting hair!
We wonder if he has plaited any other hair since then.

8,Rochas Okorocha
He is arguably the king of 'showboating'. During his re-election campaign in 2015,he took to the streets to showcase various publicity stunts that will prove that he is loved by the streets.
In one of such moves,he came across a woman roasting corns,he didn't just buy and eat as many others will do,he took over the roasting from her,he didn't stop at that,he took her son from her and continued roasting and occasionally beckoned on onlookers to come and buy fresh corn!
Election year is indeed an interesting one.

9,Ayo Fayose
He is arguably the king of publicity stunts. One can not draw such a list without reference to this man.
No single week passes without a new photo of him showboating his 'love for the streets'.
But unlike most other politicians, his own stunts did not stop after his victory. Rather it seems to have even gotten worse as governor.
From Fayose eating in buka to eating pomo to riding okada, the list is endless. Enjoy the various photos.
We can safely conclude from these pictures that this governor loves meat a lot, especially the hides, locally known as pomo.
