Drama As Biz Man Sues EFCC For Wrongly Sealing Off His Property As Fayose's Own by wite111(m): 3:47pm On Jul 20, 2016 |
A businessman, Michael Osatuyi, is battling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over his ultra-modern filling station at Lambe, a suburb of Ogun State, which was wrongly sealed off by the anti-graft agency with the thinking that it belonged to embattled Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose. The filling station, which, according to sources will be one of the biggest in the area in terms of facilities and size when completed, was sealed off last week by the EFCC as part of its battle with Fayose. However, the agency was said to have not done its homework well as the filling station did not belong to Fayose. Yet, the anti-corruption body had listed the filling station as one of the properties seized from Fayose. “It is funny,” a source close to Osatuyi told samuelajayi.com. “They did not do their homework. This is a man that has never had anything to do with Fayose in his entire business life. He has never dealt with any government in the state since inception. How EFCC now felt the station belonged to Fayose beats me hollow.” Osatuyi is a native of Ekiti State. Osatuyi is said to be in contact with the Abuja office of EFCC so that his station could be re-opened. He is said to have prepared all the documents that show his ownership to be taken to Abuja. A friend of the businessman, Abiodun Ayeni, also told samuelajayi.com on phone that he does not feel it is a serious issue. “When I called him, he was just laughing,” Ayeni said. “He said it was funny because he felt EFCC ought to have done their homework well before going after alleged properties of the governor. I think the station should be opened any moment from now.” It could be recalled that EFCC has been having a running battle with Fayose. Last weekend, it was revealed that it had seized properties worth N1.3billion from the governor. Early last month, it froze his Zenith Bank account which the agency said funds were channelled through for his campaign by the bank. Zenith Bank has since strongly denied the allegation. The man may end up having much more difficult time with the EFCC. EFCC can't be so daft to just lock peoples business without investigation and reasonable clues. 2 Likes |
