There is no money to pay workers, no money to empower students, no money to empower the Nigerian youth, no money for power supply, no money for infrastructure in the densely populated middle / low economy class residential areas and YET there is money to spend on frivolous "eye candy" projects. SMH Nigeria. So much for being "progressives"

Firstly, this this is a private sector project, its like a private estate being built for the top echelon. There's nothing frivolous about it; it brings jobs, will keep bringing jobs even far into the future, it boosts the economy of the state and country, it's extremely beautiful and it boosts the reputation of Nigeria at large.

And remember, the main reason this project was conceived was to act as an embankment/barrier to protect victoria island from being washed away by the encroaching sea. Talking about great ideas, if this is not a PROGRESSIVE idea, then I wonder what could be progressive accorsing to your school of thought.

Sure. Lagos keeps growing but the result would be more people trooping into lagos, Lagos becomes overpopulated, crime rate increases, the burden increases for the government, high cost of living, etc.

If other states are suffering getting mismanaged by their own people, Lagos bears their burdens somehow

That is more appropriate

you guys sometimes make comments without having the facts. Eko Atlantic city's sand filling is small compared to the expansion of the port in Holland. The oceans are connected. Do you have an idea of the amount of sand filling that will cause a 10cm rise in ocean level? To give you an idea, go to an Olympic size swimming pool, take the water level then throw a stone in it and then get the change in water level.
Let's all try to make informed comments please.

Most times when the ocean reacts, it is due to weather especially to a tornado at sea or excessive wave causing effects

Funny report..... the Boulevard is 200K Sq metres. the Boulevard is similar to 5th Ave New York City... which in reality is a one way Avenue with 3 to 4 lanes but maybe is similar because anything along 5th Ave is super expensive....not for the poor or middle class. All these poor people clapping....take note.

Are you aware this is a private estate?... You really think an audacious project of this magnetude would be allowed to go the way government projects go?

Keep telling yourself that, This is an elitist idea. FYI this is a public private partnership, meaning the State government and the private sector got involved in this project. The state government could as well call on the private sector to join in the development of low / middle class residential areas, you know the larger populace? the ones who actually elected Ambode and his "progressives"?

AbI o, let me say, I've been past and into eko Atlantic as recently as last week, there's mostly sand and the odd structure. Therefore it can be deduced that this media report is just to manipulate market sentiment favourably.

It doesnt matter what you want to believe or not, it is a marvellous idea, that's all that matters.

Secondly, NO kobo of your money is being put into it (it's a private sector funded project) and if you become an elite tomorow, no one forces you to step foot into eko atlantic. Even if it were a government funded project, its still a marvellous idea which creates thousands of jobs, boosts the housing sector, boosts the economy of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole, boosts the aesthetics of Lagos and Nigeria and should be a pride to every Nigerian.

But since you do not like the idea for whatever reason, that's sad, but the good news is, it doesnt change the fact that its a marvellous project.

While we can excuse @Mrchippychappy's bigotry, his arrogance in ignorance and laziness in diligence is questionable. You mean people can be ignorant when virtually all the facts are right in their faces.
