Report from Ogboia local government area of Bayelsa state, South-South Nigeria and former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s birthplace is at loggerhead with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) operating in the area.

NEXTNEWSLIVE.COM gathered that, the refusal by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) to honor an invitation by House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition against their frequent activities along the Kolo Creek River, Ogbia LGA Bayelsa on Sunday brought the indigenes from the area one-on-one with the company as there was serious blockade which crippled economic activities in the area .

Our correspondent from Yenagoa reported that, the decision to halt SPDC operation yesterday was to further demonstrate and exposed the Company’s neglect to the welfare and safe environment of their host Communities.

The more compelling reason again was as a result of the refusal of SPDC to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition which has previously invited them on three consecutive occasions which SPDC is yet honor.

It was however, this inhumane treatment and unprofessional attitude exhibited by SPDC that prompted the leadership of Imotel Youth Union and Youths of Kolo Creek to express their grievances and used the medium to call the attention of Federal Government, Bayelsa State Government and other relevant agencies to call SPDC to order to save their environment which is their only means of livelihood.
