In my opinion, Fayose was wrong to enact such laws in the first place. The fulanis have the right to live and work in ekiti just like every other Nigerian. Why ban their business of cattle rearing when they have no other means? Why criminalize the fulanis as if all fulanis are killers? There are bad eggs amongst every tribe, why do we make it look like violence is exclusive to northerners only. The people we should frown at are cattle rustlers who steals cattle from fulanis and use them as disguise for their evil deeds. The fulanis are peaceful people who go about their business in peace and we all know they control their herds of cattle with mere sticks. Even though we call them primitive, how many southerner can rear cattle for national consumption like the fulanis? Without them how do we see beef to consume? The rustlers are armed terrorist escaping from the north east to the south. What fayose should have done is to forbid any herdsmen from moving around with weapons, not banning cattle rearing completely. If all states cooperated with the FG on creation of grazing reserves throughout the country, there will not be a single cattle left on the streets looking for grass. Instead we chastised president Buhari's brilliant policy in the name of islamization. The ripple effects are the incessant attacks by the rustlers. The grazing bill remains the best and safest option. Not unnecessary bans sad

All the bill is talking about is control he didn't ban cattle rearing. People like u can mislead and cause problems in ur community

Even if someone does , the constitution of Nigeria trumps any state law which he is only pushing to bait the Fulani man in power & Fayose knows it but is banking on the fact that majority of his followers are not very intelligent so won't delve deep.

The constitution gives EVERYONE unfettered access to any part of the country, it's not right but it's the LAW..

I personally detest the unwholesome, unsanitary and unprogressive mode of wakaing with maalu, but i know it can only be stopped by federal legislation....

All this English because you didn't take time to read Fayose anti grazing bill. read it before typing trash

Another thing is, those who form the bulk of his supporters are taking such extreme measure in their own domains! Last time, we heard even their "best performer" gave the herdsmen some financial compensation for loss of cattle!!

They keep pushing people to their own unfortunate end and would never do same to themselves. They applauded Kanu until he wound up where he currently is.

They applauded scAvengers until the mofos ate a million dozen humble pies at the feet of mr President!! They applaud FFK and Fayose but you never hear any of their governors as much as slightly criticising the federal government, let alone insult her as the aforementioned do.

You have got it all fhucked up and twisted ..

Nowhere in that bill was the word FULANI mentioned.

No restriction has been placed on the movements of any Fulani person in Nigeria.

Cattle rearing is not banned in Ekiti.. Try reading the bill first. All they have done is regulate the herding and grazing of cattle in the state.

They have time periods within which their cattle can walk around freely, sort of like what has been done with Okadas..

They also have created areas where the cattle can graze.. Grazing outside those assigned grazing zones are illegal.

NOBODY has tagged them killers, but there is no denying that alot of people have been attacked and killed by Herdsmen.

Talking about banning them from moving around with weapons is a moot point as IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANYBODY TO CARRY AN UNLICENSED FIREARM AROUND IN NIGERIA..

I find your post to be utterly ridiculous to start with. Grazing reserves is not the answer to the issue of Herdsmen attacks or cattle snatching by Rustlers. Ranching is the answer to that. These Cows should be in ranches not allowed to roam the streets and highways causing traffic gridlocks, littering the streets with feaces, wandering into farmlands and destroying food crops and cash crops and causing accidents from time to time. This is 2016 not 1886. The creation of Grazing reserves Nationwide should never be supported. If the Government does, then the Government would have to provide other such supports for other businesses as well. Those cattle are someone business. I even doubt those herdsmen pay taxes to the Government from the sales of their Cows, so how do you justify the Government giving them special concessions especially in foreign lands outside their states of origin with other tax payers monies?

The Grazing Bill is the dumbest bill ever debated by the Nigerian Senate since the Social Media Bill..

Guys, don't let your urge to criticize cloud your sense of reasoning.

The Ekiti State Assembly has just passed the billed, and is yet to be signed by the Governor.

For now, free grazing in Ekiti is no offence since the bill has not been signed into law.

this practice of walking cattle from street to street and from state to state should stop. The dangers are just too many: Auto crashes; farm crops damage among others. Maybe we should be looking at effective ways of helping the Fulanis to refine their centuries old practices. Cattle mustn't travel to be grown!

While i totally align with your point about the invisible line of demarcation between protecting one's right and infringing on another's, i know what the Law says and the interpretation that will be given to it..

Of course the governor's responsibility is regulation but it must still be in tandem with the laws of the nation.. Fayose can not unilaterally make laws that is not in consonance with national & regional tenets.

There are operational guidelines for each business model but this issue on ground isn't the norm...

Commercial motorcycle have only been banned on highways (i know your next line of argument smiley) for safety reasons (fatality, grave injuries and robbery+assault) , but inner streets still have them boku...

I do not (i keep repeating this) like this act but i know it can't be stopped expect the government chooses to encourage the herders to embrace global best practices of enclosures (even in free ranging) but we know how most of them react when the subject comes up..

You've nailed it.. No need speak further... We do not run independent states in Nigeria, why then is Fayose trying to pull the wool over people's eyes? He has no mini kingdom bros..
.did you just say we don't run independent state in Nigeria?where were you when some states in the north adopted sharia law when they know fully well that Nigeria is a circular nation?.please go and get your head examined.

People bring their cattles to destroy your farm. They rape women and rob. They kill when they feel they are provoked. Did you condemn the herdsmen for killing people in Enugu, Agatu or Nasarawa ?
You are talking about cattle rustlers. Are the people in Enugu or Agatu cattle rustlers ? Are the rev. Sisters that were raped cattle rustlers too. If Fulani herdsmen should go on killing spree because a few bad people stole their cattles as they claim, then it's not wrong to ban all them for killing. Whose responsibility is it to differentiate the criminal elements amongst them ?
