The Dearth Of Competency And Its Resultant Effect In Our Development by sumborri: 6:53am On Sep 01, 2016
- our administrators aren't competent
- lecturers and educators aren't competent
- students and researchers aren't competent
- electorate aren't competent
- government officials aren't competent
- pastors and religious aren't competent
- phcn officials aren't competent
- apc aren't competent
- pdp aren't competent.

Yet all these classes of people hold certificates of competency or knowledge that depicts a false sense of competency. The entire nation is bereft of incompetent people running the affairs and leading the nation into the doldrums. whom do we blame for this lack and defieciency. The individuals, the process, our black skin, our tribal inclinations or our religious bias .

Many have learned to take what belongs to ceasar to God for solution. Men and women don't use the bedroom for looking for the fruit of the womb but seek crusade grounds for a possible immaculate conception. Students stroll through primary and secondary school, next to special jamb and post jamb centers, next to expo carrying from bachelors to masters level and la copy la paste methodology of reading. These graduate into future lecturers, teachers, aadminstrators and officials. These ignoramuses end up as the educated elite who should have a better and more informed choice of political idealogies to ensure an enlightened electorate are a determining factor at the polls. Yet its a surpriise that the same herd mentality observed in cultism which was a major social platform that trained our students are also exhibited at the polling stations. Is he our man? Does he bbelong to us ? Does the party contain our members, let us destroy the opposition. And yet the country bleeds of poverty stricken middle and lower classes.

To be competent and diligent in duty is greater than knowledge, wisdom and understanding put together. Because its an application of all you know. A common kazeem isn't a mechanical engineer, nor does he have a certificate depicting his competence in automobile engineering. But he is our go -to guy once we determine he can fix our cars and make it work. Nobody doubts his knowledge anymore nor do we need proof of his competency. His actions speak louder than his papers or ddeclarations.

When would we start judging ourselves and scoring our leading by their actions and not what was declared. Cheap news everywhere aimed at hiding incompetency. News of corruption fights aimed at deflecting the views of the populace on critical issues that depict a lack of competency. Because we are generally plagued by generational incompetence , no nigerian in history has ever resigned because he feels even a monkkey can do the job, why resign when another monkey as incompetent as he is will take his place. We mere followers, mere electorate, mere youth, mere graduates, mere future of tommorow. We must embrace competency. And start judging people, governments, individuals by their actions which depicts competency and not certifcates that declare same. Have a great day

everyone actually. Its the entire recognitiive process which the system is based on. We admire certificates that claim different competence rather than actions. Politicvians can say anything , declare anything and feel no shame when their actions don't match their words. Because the electorate prefers the party with plenty empty promises than the individual with a track record of exccellence. All developed economies are value based, they place precedence on value and not certificates or declarations of proficiency. Eg what can u do, what do u know, what can u contirbute. Instead of. What did u study le cram la pour and from where did u cram from

Yorubbba are to be blamed. They are scared and envious of Igbos at the top...which is how natural it should be for the nation to grow based on competency as Igbo lead today in all quotients and indexes of academic competence. After colonial era and before the civil war, Igbos were at the top and occupied most government and private management & technical positions....THIS WAS WHAT STARTED THE IGBOPHOBIA OR HATE. It was only after the war when Igbos were damaged, coupled with Awolowo's misappropriation of Igbo's wealth(25 POUNDS FOR EVERY MAN) and extension of full scholarships to yorubas while he was starving Igbos, did yoruba ONLY get to the top...THEY WERE NEVER AT THE TOP AFTER COLONIAL ERA OR BEFORE THE WAR WHEN MERIT WAS THE REQUIREMENT AS LAID DOWN BY WHITES; NEVER! However because they are not naturally gifted to be at the top....you can bring a donkey to the stream but cannot never for it to drink from it, so Igbos slowly and gently picked themselves up from the damage of the war and Awolowo's scheme were able to regain their rightful position as the leader...at the top again. As long as Igbos remain at the top because the indexes say so or by merit not quota, NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN, OTHERWISE NIGERIA CAN NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER BE GOOD LET ALONE GREAT!
