Saraki Keeps His Word, As #GeoBill Passes Second Reading



President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki  has fulfilled his promise to remove all barriers against women, eliminate discrimination and enforce the Rights of women in Africa and other matters connected. 

The Senate at its plenary session today passed the Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill (SB. 301) for the second reading before it ended the days business. 

The #GeoBill is an act to incorporate and enforce certain provision of the United Nations convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.

The #GeoBill also seeks the adoption of special measures to ensure equality of all persons and ensure modifications to gender stereotypes. 

"The message being passed is that the 8th Senate is a gender-friendly one and I hope that the judiciary committee will do justice and take further action to progress further" Saraki said.

The bill was sponsored by Senator Biodun Olujimi from (Ekiti South) and got the support of Senators Oluremi Tinubu, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Garba Binta and Senator Olusola Adeyeye
