In his believe that the essence of holding political appointment either elective or appointive is to bring development to the people and to touch their lives positively and meaningfully, the Honourable Member Representing Okigwe South in the federal House of Reps, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, today, during an exclusive interactive session with the traditional rulers of the three local governments of his immediate constituency, namely Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano LGAs, issued over 20 appointment /employment letters from NAFDAC to the sons and daughters of the constituency at the palace of His Royal Highness Eze Emmanuel Nzeadibemma Ibechi, Akagu 1 of Umuakagu, in Ehime mbano local government area, assuring them that more appointment letters will be issued out within couple of weeks to come.

After enumerating most of his achievements before the traditional rulers, which he said were the first people to have endorsed him during the last general election, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor disclosed to them that his major target in the green chamber is to bring/attract massive developments, vigorously pursue human capital development and to institutes programs and policies that will better the lives of the people of his constituency.

He used the opportunity to intimate them about his free medical services programme, schedule to take place this month and urged them to sensitize and mobilize their subjects in order for them to benefit from the programme.

In their seperate speeches, most of the traditional rulers who spoke on the event poured encomiums on Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, disclosing that it was the first time any politician from the constituency will render stewardship to traditional rulers. They not only blessed him, but urged him to remain focus as a shinning light of the constituency. He was accompanied to the occasion by the Hon. Member Representing Obowo state constituency Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, APC chairmen of the LGAs, some party leaders and political aides, among others.

This is the type of thing i want.

A sensitive agency like NAFDAC, a man just came with its appointment letters and gave them out like a Christmas gift, with no test of competence for the appointment recipients.

Later, we start criticizing the relevance, existence and effectiveness of NAFDAC in "safeguarding the health of the Nation", not knowing this Hon and people like him have bastardized the agency recruiting not base on merit but political compensation.

This Hon. is dumb!

Beside, it is a National Agency and not Charity organisation or NGO for the Rep, therefore, it is expected that recruitment into NAFDAC will be advertised and spread across the federation based on the principle of Federal character.

Hence, I beg to ask;

1. Were the vacancies advertised?

2. Did other imolites that aren't members of his constituency apply or considered?

3. If Imo slot was taken by him, isn't that impunity?

4. Was there even employment of 20 or less each from other States of the federation?

5. If the above questions is in the negative, then two things are involved:

a) It is either the man is lying.

b) If the story is true, the man should show proof of appointment of the 20. If shown, the man is worse than Buhari that executed secret employment and should be probed. In fact, the Deacon title should be removed from him.

Nigeria is really a funny country. An honourable member gave out twenty appointment letters to members of his constituency as if they were cinema tickets. What interview did they attend to merit such appointment?

One would have thought this open show of impunity would end with the coming on stage of the "CHANGE" chanters. But it has been one bizarre act after the other since they came on board.

The government will do well to investigate how this man was able to get twenty of his constituents employment into NAFDAC without following due process.

We've really bastardized due process in this country. Look how someone is sharing employment letters like biscuits.

So assuming each house of reps member got at least 20 slots: 360 x 20 = 7,200 slots. Factor in those issued to Senators and you are talking roughly 9,300 slots. Just like that fa.

Funny how some of us think these people are the solution. How do you solve a problem you're not even aware that you're creating?

In a nation where corruption thrives more than anything, rich and influential people send their wards to Harvard and MIT only to end up booking space for them at CBN and FIRS, packing their constituents into an already saturated agency becomes the only option to even things out.

This is an indication of failure on the part of our leaders. They've failed to raise our educational system, and have also failed to raise their privileged kids to create wealth in spite of the millions spent on educating them.

By the preceding, I do not begrudge the constituents. If that's the only way things would trickle down to the poor and downtrodden, then so be it. Just let the best hands be handed the tools, lest, we continue in circles.

If you're a politician, next time you send your child abroad, please be sure that s/he learns something substantial to build his/her career upon. Don't just waste scarce forex only to have them occupy public offices when they should be builders. It's a shame.
