Fact! Others ignorantly said that Igbos dont like themselves but I ask what love is greater than what this man and many other Igbos are doing in their various communities These men are not as rich as Dangote, IBB, Danjuma or Tinubu but they touched lives more than those criminals I mentioned who defrauded Nigerians. Nigeria is just a stumbling block on the progress of Igbos!!
You forgot to mention Papa Iyabo.

Firstly thanks for your candid response.
Could you please confirm if they also have boreholes in each house in Beverley Hills, California that one of the people I quoted made his benchmark or even in Texas where this hero makes his money that he has used very well to improve his home base in Nigeria and touch the lives of his folks?
Cheers.

I don't have to tell you anything since I did not force you or anyone to tell me anything that you are doing for your community.
It is a matter of choice whether one wants to broadcast whatever little he is doing for others or not.
I hope that you understand.
Cheers.

SERI, police excited over Anambra modern court complex

A human rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights Initiative, has expressed delight over a modern high court complex being built in Umuchukwu, a community in the Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

SERI’s President, Mr. Raymond Onyegu, said the modern high court complex, donated to the state by an adjunct clinical professor of Anesthesiology, Pain Management and Surgery, Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Nevada, USA, Dr. Godwin Maduka, would go a long way in enhancing indigenes’ access to justice.

Onyegu, a lawyer, said with the new high court to be inaugurated this month, residents of Umuchukwu and neighbouring towns would no longer have to travel to Aguata, several miles away, to seek judicial redress.

“Our people have problem of access to justice as a result of the distance between here and Aguata Local Government where you have the nearest court. You will have to leave the entire Orumba South, cross Orumba North before you get to Aguata Local Government. Both litigants and lawyers would have to travel that long distance to access justice,” Onyegu said.

He lauded Maduka, an indigene of Umuchukwu, who is now based in the US where he founded and sits as the Chief Medical Director of the six branches of the Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Centre, Nevada, USA, for responding to the call of the state government to help in the building of courtrooms in Anambra State.

Onyegu said, “The Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi, issued a statement encouraging people to assist the government; since the state government doesn’t receive much from the Federal Government, he urged individuals who can afford it to assist the government by building courtrooms. He (Maduka) started first by building a temporary magistrate’s court, complemented with a 30KVA generator. He has gone to build a permanent magistrate’s court and now he’s building the high court…I don’t know how one can describe it because it is unprecedented.”

According to SERI’s President, upon completion, the two-storey modern high court, comprising two courtrooms, two judges’ chambers, offices for the judicial workers and other utility facilities, would be handed over to the state governor, Willie Obiano, who will officially inaugurate it and hand it over to the Anambra State Judicial Service Commission, which will then take over its management.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Umuchukwu, SP Ugwuagba Ignatus, said the court would further aid the police in carrying out their assignment as the high court would complement the magistrate’s court which the police had found very had found very useful.

“This gesture will really ease our entire policing assignment up to the court,” Ignatus said, noting that security situation in Umuchukwu and neighbouring towns had since received a boost following earlier donations by Maduka of four two-storey buildings, serving as police barrack, patrol vehicles, a bungalow for officers’ quarters and another one-storey building serving as an operation base for the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad as well as another building for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Umuchukwu.

Greatest philanthropist
Our politicians and other leaders should be ashamed of themselves. What have they done with their huge allowances and ill-gotten wealth order than to keep stealing and acquiring wealth for themselves and next generation. Welldone Doctor Maduka,God bless you more and more power to your elbow.

Very cool! Wealthy Nigerians should join the government in developing Nigeria. This dude has done a very good job, I only wish he can convince his wealthy friends to do the same. BTW what's with all the tribalism here? People should grow the bleep up, and stop reducing everything to this tribal nonsense.

I join other Nairalanders to appreciate the spirit of love being shown by Dr. Maduka.

However, this is what I have to point out:

Before Dr. Maduka could become CEO and MEDICAL DIRECTOR, he needed to have completed a medical degree and did subsequent sub-specialty training (residency).

In Nigeria today, one of the major reasons the health sector is in chaos is because unions (physiotherapists, nurses, pharmacists, health records officers etc) are protesting vehemently that the office of the Chief Medical Director be made open to all.

How our health sector will progress at this rate is beyond me.
