At the screening session of the 46 nominees sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Senate as ambassadors, some crucial irregularities were found in the personal and academic records of Mr Aliyu Abubakar.
Premium Times reports that apart from his birth certificate, Mr Abubakar submitted affidavit and police extract dated same date, claiming loss of credentials.
This caused suspicion from the committee that the nominee might have bought his affidavit and police extract after his nomination.Also, his highest academic qualification is a diploma in computer which he obtained from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
The document was dated September 23, 2016 which is a day after his nomination.
When asked to defend his qualifications, and if he is suitable for the job based on his academic background, he said“did not bother to go for the credentials having been self-employed prior to the nomination as he only went to school merely for knowledge.”The nominee to chair the board, Bisi Durojaiye, a former senator said he was dedicated to help in building a stronger Senate.
Earlier, the president sent the names of 46 persons to the Senate for confirmation as ambassadors.
