Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the present administration will not dictate to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Osinbajo, who said this in response to a question on whether the former president would be arrested for alleged corruption during his administration, added that the Buhari’s administration was not in the business of arresting just anyone, indiscriminately.

The vice president said all that the present administration “does is to empower security agencies and the anti-corruption agencies to do their jobs without the administration trying to teleguide them.”

Osinbajo added, “corruption is not an ethnic thing, there is an equal representation in the stealing as no one operates with his/her ethnic group alone. The culprits are in every case seen so far, united by greed to steal and not by ethnic or religious interest.”

He decried a situation where as much as $15 billion arms purchase fund disappeared from the national coffers into private pockets, saying no responsible government would “wave that aside so as not to offend people.”

On the recent arrest of some judges, the vice president explained that impunity could be very dangerous in any sector and that “the federal government is only exercising its executive function in attempting to check excesses.”

The vice president, who spoke in Houston, Texas, while interacting with Nigerians living in the United States, added that the important thing was that due process was being followed as the judges were released about 24 hours after their arrest and after they had given their statements.

The vice president attributed the current economic recession in Nigeria to the loss of about 60 percent of government’s revenue due to pipeline vandalism and “endemic corruption” in the system.

He maintained that getting back oil production “is a sure way to get out of the recession and the federal government is working to sort it out.”

He further stated that security agencies had arrested about 800 violent herdsmen across the nation.

“The president has given firm instructions to the security agencies to arrest not only herdsmen who are attacking communities anywhere in the country, but anyone of them or anyone at all in possession of firearms. There are about 800 of suspected violent herdsmen in the country that are currently in custody,” he said.

The vice president however lamented that the slow pace of the criminal justice system in the country was stalling prompt trial of the suspects.

“There has always been conflict between herdsmen and communities across the country and people should disabuse the notion that the problem started because President Buhari, a Fulani man, is currently at the helm in the country,” he said.

Osinbajo also hinted that the federal government was working “to introduce community policing that would be in line with the constitution”, saying, “the current situation where police activities are controlled at the federal level has some limitations.”

Abeg, allow Jona to continue enjoy his "hero status" for the single reason he conceded defeat and bowed out honorably.

However, don't stop tightening the noose around the neck of those very close to him who participated in the looting of our treasury, eg, Mama Piss, and those thieving ministers and aides.

Even if Jonathan steal trillions, no one can ,I repeat, no cabals can arrest the man. They intimidated the man with ICC during the last elections If he looses and refuses to hand over, and as a result, Nigeria boils , this was in other to get Hausa/ Fulani back to the seat of power. This was done by abdusalami and all those us envoy. But they have to sign agreement with him also to make him a hero of democracy by preaching good governce throughout the world, promising that he won't be jailed, which we see him doing today. All just to get power back to the North. That's why no matter the protest against him and allegations, no body will arrest him or expose him. It was mama peace that was too forward and goofed by exposing her self, when she ran to media because of some traced amount to her account. She would have gone Timi Silva way and gets all her money back without making much noise. If you think they will fight corruption and seize his property, you are on a long thing. Even mama peace will soon escape her own. That's how Nigeria elites work.

See Tinubu's boy boy talking O, anyway it's not his fault, if talking and maligning people is the way this govt wants to operate let them continue. At the right time the people of this country will throw them away like a pack of bad rubbish.

After bubu made him head master of economic team, we can not see the magic he wants to perform to free us from recession other than carrying big head Upandan. Bubu just have a way of showing the world that the person you thought is smart and a prof is empty upstairs. In other words he is just an 'itiboribo' a tyro VP, amateur VP, he needs to learn how to be a VP and presidential too, no wonder he is a mere commissioner. Even Aisha and Remi makes him jittery. Areas where angels dread to tread fools go in. Even bubu knows it he does not talk like this it is ordinary commissioner that wants to talk . Why not leave president to president, go and face VP sambo that is suppose to be your level and don't jump protocol tyro VP pastor
