1. Applying alone, will make your husband a strong tie to Nigeria. Apply alone next time. By God's grace when you get the visa, travel to the US and then when your EDD gets close, let your husband apply to be with you as you go into labour. 2. Also it helps having a dollar dominated account statement, it makes it easier for the VO when he see's the dollars instead of having to convert using a foreign exchange rate that might not be friendly to you. 3. Most folks have a long-term accommodation (or stay with family or friends) when going for delivery and its almost always never an hotel, this could also have been a red flag. Try finding a place you can stay, for before and after delivery. 4. I hope your cousin is in the US legally? (it sounds unfair, but family members are sometimes "punished" for a relatives immigration "sins" My opinion though. Rhonkee: 6 Likes |

justwise: It's a Studio 6 reservation. It's costs 3300 for the entire stay after discount. It costs 1560 just for 30days. More so, the VO didn't even ask for the reservation confirmation. 1 Like |

My cousin got a transfer from his oil company in Nigeria so he is a very legal immigrant with his children being citizen. Secondly, I didn't even enter his details in my DS 160 form because the plan isn't to stay with him if my husband will be visiting. I only thicked the Yes, to extended relative question on the form. But, if I will be applying alone without my husband I can't stay alone cos it's my first, I will need family so I'm likely to enter his details for accommodation and I hope that is ok? Tnx |

So sorry to hear about your ordeal. It's very ok to enter your cousni's details, cause you had stated in your previous interview that you have a relation in the us.. Don't worry,it will end in praise this time around. 5 Likes |

chloe7: That's not true. You can queue as soon as you have all your supporting documents. I queued the quarter before my traveling time and i got. Infact, the earlier you queue, the better. |

Rhonkee: The only snag I see here is that the VO was the one who indicated you were going for childbirth, rather than it coming from you, meaning that if his questions didn't lead to getting that out of you, it may have never come up. Just my opinion since I'm trying hard to pick holes in your story when there apparently isnt any. I suggest you reapply alone sha. |

lively123:you can't just totally refute a statement that's it's not true what happens to the exceptions to the general rule excuse me In Fidelity bank and Stanbic where I have gotten from this year o that is what they told me, to chill till the quarter i'm travelling. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by favouredmum: 1:34pm On Dec 02, 2016 |
chloe7: I don't think this is very correct. I got pta in July dis year and travelled in August. However, I applied in April when I bought my ticket. Except dis is a recent development in stanbic. I tink the earlier one applies, the higher the chances of getting cos i was called 3 weeks to my travel date dat pta was available. 1 Like |

chloe7: Take it easy. I was told the same but i insisted that i wanted to apply and i got it about 3 weeks after and it is the same Stanbic bank. Bankers sometimes can advise wrongly based on whatever bias especially as this FX as become gold. |

I guess that will be better. Applying alone and using your cousin's address as where you will stay. Although you will need some form of written consent from him.

|

Rhonkee: For me I will say apply alone like you DH suggested and use your cousin house as place of stay even though you don't plan to stay there. I believe it will fly this time. Was it lagos or Abuja because Abuja seems to be easier. WHMC is good that is were I used but there are cheaper hospitals but let's not worry about that for now lets leave that for When your visa is issued Good luck and congratulations in advance You can pm too if you like 2 Likes |

Hi everyone, My LO arrived on Sunday evening at Oakbend and Dr E was around to take delivery. baby weighed 4.01. I got in on wed with plenty questioning at JFK spent nearly 3hrs, I will advise that husbands that wants to come in after the baby arrival should come with d receipts and change of intent letter if you got the visa for vacation n decided to use for childbirth. I was drilled at some point I was thinking it would be better if they let me go back to my fatherland. Phone was checked, my luggages were searched all because I didn't have any of those receipts and change of intent letter with me. Please let's all be careful and endeavor to travel with whatever docs to prove to them we already made payments. Thanks 8 Likes |

momsykids2: I believe people didn't respond because hospitals in Texas and new York have been exhaustively discussed on this forum. please get a pen and paper, use the search button and start reading. You can also follow posts of people who have used or have indicated that they want to use the hospitals you find from your search. This is largely a Do It Yourself Forum. All the best. 4 Likes |

As for the bills paid 2500$ to oakbend, 1900$ to Dr E, Got a bill of 1067$ (Initial hospital care 7ins was for 540$, subsequent neonatal intensive care was 500$ and discharge day management was 295$ with 20% discount) from Diana because my baby was sent into nursery for having slight jaundice... Is this the usual additional bill people got from Oakbend for care of new born baby?. I think he spent less than 15hrs there. Still trying to talk to her to see how I can get this reduced. Yet to get the bills from labs and B&A. Pls do I have to call them to have them send in their bills? Pls how do I go about applying for LO's passport, 1 Like |

For babies usa passport go to Houston passport agency At 1919 Smith St, Houston, TX 77002, USA Walk in there by 8am on Monday - Friday with birth certificate and either cash or credit card. Pick forms to fill inside remember to go with a copy of your return ticket if you will do expidited (you get it same day) If your DH is with you go together if not he should go to the usa consulate in lag to notorise one of the forms can't remember which ie if you don't already have it. After these go through previous messages to get information on how to get either Emergency travel document, nigerian passport or nigerian visa for your LO. The choice is yours which ever you settle for
As for the bills paid 2500$ to oakbend, 1900$ to Dr E, Got a bill of 1067$ (Initial hospital care 7ins was for 540$, subsequent neonatal intensive care was 500$ and discharge day management was 295$ with 20% discount) from Diana because my baby was sent into nursery for having slight jaundice...
