Yes. I can see why it's a complete turn-off for both men and women. Before meeting in-person and winning someone over with your personality and/or convince them that you look like the pictures you’ve submitted to the person, your words are what you bring to show and tell. When people meet, they take stock of what the other person wears, and how it’s worn. Whether it’s dirty, wrinkle, old and faded or new and off the runaway, what others wear helps in our assumption of who we think they are. The same goes for words. A note filled with errors may suggest you are careless, uneducated, rushed or at the very least, simply don’t give a damn.

It's not necessarily about big grammar, but proper tenses, and proper punctuation marks. Most of all, I hate abbreviations, they make you look lazy. I can understand abbreviating words in text messages, and Twitter, but WhatsApp, Facebook, etc, come on! You're not being charged per word, are you?

Starting a conversation with "Sup", or "Xup", or "PING!!!" is a major turn off, and makes the guy come across as childish. Don't expect the conversation to go smoothly from there.
