The PDP National Youth Frontiers (PDPNYF) has passed a
vote of no confidence on the activities of the Kogi State
Workers’ Verification and Screening Committee for her
continuous failure in an endless exercise.

The coordinator of PDPNYF, Comrade Austin Usman Okai,
who made the position of the group known to Kogireports
today, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to institute a
high powered panel to investigate the “criminal utilization of
bailout funds given to Kogi state government under Alhaji
Yahaya Bello“.

Okai said the bailout fund was mismanaged and the result is
the lingering salary crises among civil servants and
pensioners in the state.

According to him, Governor Bello has only been paying lip
service to the welfare of Kogi state workers and pensioners.
He challenged the governor to disband the screening
committee and come out clean on how the N20 billion
bailout fund was spent.

“Today, the situation in Kogi state is that of confusion and
segregation in the payment of pensions and salaries. While
a set of workers with heterogeneous affiliations are being
owed five months salaries, some other groups are being
owed eight month.

I can tell you categorically that some
workers are being owed ten months salaries! These
categories are different from those technically classified as
ghost workers.

“The confusion is worsened by another notorious
classification of civil servants in Kogi state. We have the
‘cleared list’ and the ‘uncleared’ list. Since January,
Governor Bello has been following the most irritable
approach to workers’ welfare

” From the onset, the governor has been acting like
someone with a sinister motive, first, he forcefully opened
new unsolicited bank accounts for civil servants in Zenith
and Access Banks. Despite their claims, salary payments is
still abnormally done in Kogi state.

The group said the state government deliberated created the
current situation by its refusal to heed the advise of
stakeholders to constitute a committee to handle the
disbursement of the bailout.

The youth leader stated that the body welcomed the idea of
eradicating ghost workers in the state civil service, but
the the state workforce had been polarised through the
exercise because the approach adopted by the present
administration has political coloration.

Okai, who described the civil service as the engine room of
any administration, said the group will resist any attempt to
continue to victimise bonafide civil servants and pensioners
in the state
