Except for Shehu Shagari whom there was no report or any trace of misconduct on corruption all others like Obasonjo , IBB GEJ and their deputies deserve no kobo as so called retirement allowance with the billions of Naira and dollars that have been stollen by them but because of immunity and impunity attached to them they were made to go scot free.
Recall when the then U S President Clinton left office he started seeking for mortgage loan to build or acquire a building for their family use and at the same period it was reported in the papers that Atiku bought a big mansion in the same U S for more than 2.5m dollars cash down. was is not after their tenors that we now have former presidents, deputies and their cohorts building universities and super mansions both in Nigeria and overseas yet they are still complaining of not receiving the chicken change called retirement allowance. They don't deserve it.

what allowance do they need? Aside shagari, I don't pity any of them because they brought us here.
If they have saved when the harvest was plenty, we wouldn't be here now!

hedonistic:

The point is that, assuming Jonathan and the past leaders were pious men who failed to loot, what would happen to them now? Where would they get money for their upkeep and sundry expenses? Would they not be going cap in hand to beg for crumbs from the government and government officials? Where is the encouragement there or the example there for current people in government to be honest? There are clear parallels to be drawn.

This matter has nothing to do with piety. It's immoral for political office holders to be collecting pensions in an economy that spends less than 10% of its budget on education, pays 18,000 as minimum wage, owes wages to current staff across board, refuses to adequately fund the education, health care, security, power supply and food production, storage and supply. In saner climes, their execution of mandate handed to them by the polity would have been investigated and commensurate penalties meted out to those found wanting. It's unbelievably brazen of them to even ask for pensions. Haba!

After raping and robbing someone blind, the victim then gets blood drained from his system s8mply because hes defenseless.
