The court of appeal has upheld the caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Ahmed Makarfi, describing the faction led by Ali Modu Sheriff as illegal.

In a judgement on Wednesday, the panel of judges led by Ibrahim Saulawa, set aside the ruling of Okon Abang, a judge of the federal high court Abuja, who declared Makarfi’s faction as “illegal”.

In a ruling on June 29, Abang ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise any candidate from the Markafi faction.

But the panel held that Abang’s ruling was “displaced, and most troubling”.

“It is a gross abuse of section 36 (1) of the constitution, particularly the right to fair hearing,” Saulawa held.

This may not yet been over. Expedited appeal to the Supreme Court may already be in the offing.

this country jurisdiction need urgent intervention because there is too much contradiction in there judgement. if this is not properly balance it can lead to public unrest and lack of trust worthy on judiciary government.

APC stalwart said so in Rivers State. They said Wike can't take over from Amaechi because they all come from same tribe. Wike didn't only win, he won all the way to supreme court. In politics there is what is called doctrine of necessity. Winning is the end point. Election may be hard to rig so political parties that are experienced must field candidates that are popular or coming from population high density area of the state.

You are just being unreasonable. PDP still holds many states, has sympathizers nationwide, and controls more than 1/3 of the senatorial seats.
