Ondo Election: PDP Heads To Tribunal by londonrivals: 1:33pm On Nov 28, 2016
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party described the outcome of the election as declared by Professor Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali, the Chief Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as a “charade and not the true reflection of the will of the people of Ondo State.”

It said INEC has “graduated from inconclusive elections as seen in Kogi, Bayelsa, Osun, FCT, Imo, Nassarawa and some other previous by-elections in the Country to ‘Advanced Election Rigging’, as in the case of Edo and Ondo States Gubernatorial Elections.”

The statement added, “It is common knowledge that the APC agents openly bought votes of the electorates in the full glare of security operatives who did nothing to prevent such dastardly violation of the Electoral Law. It is not surprising that the electorates in Ondo state became so vulnerable to the corruptive influence of the APC because of the harsh economic situation in the country inflicted on Nigerians by the APC administration which have indeed made all Nigerians virtually beggars in their own country.

“Nigerians will recall that we had persistently called for the postponement of the Election before Saturday, for at least two weeks to enable our party campaign and prepare properly for this election as a result of the setback orchestrated by Justice Okon Abang and the charlatans in PDP who allowed themselves to be used by the APC to destroy our chances in the Ondo State Election.

“The actions of INEC in collaboration with the APC led administration left us no time to campaign and sell our candidate and party manifesto to the electorates in Ondo State. Our persistent call for the postponement of the election which was backed and supported by more than 20 other political parties were all rejected by INEC which were acting the script of the APC. It was a carefully planned and well orchestrated strategy to rig the election well in advance by preventing the PDP from planning and campaigning for the election. The APC has hereby introduced a new formula of rigging election in Nigeria.

“In view of the fact that the election was blatantly manipulated from the beginning to the end to favour the APC, we vehemently reject the results of the November 26, 2016 gubernatorial election in Ondo State. The election and all actions leading to it fall short of laid down principles guiding conduct of elections in Nigeria. We have instructed our candidate and the Ondo State Chapter of our party to proceed to the Tribunal to challenge the outcome of the election. We call on the judiciary to redeem Nigeria’s image on this matter as we request for the total cancellation of the election in Ondo State,” it concluded.

Waste of time and money.

This is a clear confirmation that PDP lacks wisdom. On what ground are they calling for cancelation of the election?

1. That PDP had internal issues before the election and as such INEC should have postponed it? Which law allows this nonsense?

2. That INEC obeyed a valid court order by replacing Jegede with Jimoh Ibrahim? INEC couldn't have acted otherwise. It has to obey every valid court order. It's same way it later obeyed the Appeal court order by accepting Jegede.

3. That APC infiltrated your party (according to you) to destabilize you, and INEC should have postponed the election?

4. Vote buying is engaged in by all parties and there is no way that is INEC's problem.

The fact that Akeredolu even beat Jegede in his own local government is a testament to the fact that PDP was rejected by Ondo. So, you have no reasonable ground to challenge the best election so far in the history of Prof Mahmood's Chairmanship.

And the inconclusive elections we've had were a result of violence and disruptions by political thugs hired and sponsored by you politicians. In those cases, the best thing to do was to reject the violence by declaring the elections inconclusive. When politicians finally realize that their violence will not be rewarded by INEC, they'd behave well hopefully.

I feel ashamed when I hear our supposedly enlightened politicians talk like this in public. Holding APC responsible for the disorder within your own party is lame, an excuse only fit for losers. If you're going to allege election rigging at least have the intelligence to come fort with some form of evidence, either audio, video or photographic, at least something to take to the election tribunals.
If you can't prepare your house for a simple state governorship election in four whole years, why should you expect the people to trust you with their mandate, which indirectly represents their lives?

#PDP is indeed a dead party. Election adjuged to be free, fair and largely credible not only by the media but all the observer groups that monitor the elections. They want to waste their time and scarce resources to tribunal, Appeal court and supreme court over to me non existant allegations and they keep hammering on vote buying when all the observer groups reported and documented vote buying was done by all parties involved. How will they convince the courts beyond reasonable doubt that #APC bought all the votes casted for it?!

Instead of #PDP to sit down concentrate and put its house in order and resolve the lingering leadership crisis rocking it that the Appeal court is yet to rule on the authentic party chairman, crisis that has affected them so fantastically not only in #Ondo but also in recent #Edo elections.

I bet you, if they continue this way #APC will as well take over #Ekiti and continue running in circles like a bereaved fellow and at the end will loose out completely in south east

#I Don Talk My Own...!!

PDP should start preparing for the next governorship election in Ekiti before Modu Sheriff overtakes them again and brings them to their sorry knees.

What a pity? You said a lot but none was backing with any known law of the country. You don't need to continue waste your time and resources. PDP should know by now that if they want to continue as a formidable party then all internal crisis must be resolved.

This is a huge joke from the drowning Party.......PDP is calling for the total cancellation of the election result on what basis?.....the election has witnessed by foreign observers was devoid of rancour or violence of anyform......the election is the most peaceful in the history of Ondo state....APC won the election clearly without rigging#Even Jegede who is mimiko puppet was beating blue and black in His strong hold of Akure(Both in Akure North and south)....clement Faboyede who happened to be PDP chairman in Ondo also loss to APC in both ward and LG level, the SSG also suffer the same fate in Odigbo LGA......most of mimiko commissioners and pdp House of assembly members loss in all their local Government thesame way Jegede loss in Akure#Mimiko can not owe civil servants 6months salary and also expecting to vote 4 his puppet.......with the way the Ondo civil servants planned to vote,PDP were lucky to escape with 2LGA out of 18......PDP should ask themselves why they perform woefully in all the Lga in Ondo North and Ondo south.......mimiko arrogance of retaining power in Ondo central put him in all these mess and nothing more.

I have to agree with PDP on this one, if INEC continues with present partiality then there would be no need for election in 2019.

With all honesty
Jegede did very well in the concluded election with just less than 48 hours to campaign before the election date
Pdp should instead direct their anger to Jimoh Ibraheem for causing the gridlock or wait for another 4 years to come to try their bad luck again
They should put their house in order

There was 2 court orders from PH and ABJ and inec connived with Apc to obey the court order from Abang? Even as they didn't monitor d primary of his d sheriff faction according to d electoral act? The primary wasn't even done in Ondo state, but Inec went ahead to remove d name of Jegede dat his primary was monitored and done in Ondo, only to replace his name back 2days to d election, who is fooling who? We should always say d truth no matter what, when PDP was in power, they didn't frustrate other parties during elections,if not they would have won every election. This election would be cancled no doubt, cos Apc wants to turn Nigeria into a one party state and d people and Judiciary would resist it.
