The final of the 2016 Africa Women's Cup of Nations between the Super Falcons and Cameroon is the fourth time the two teams are meeting in the final in the history of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations. Nigeria has won all



2. Falcons First Final On Central African Soil
Since the change of format from a home and away tie, this is the first time the Falcons are playing in the final of the AWCON staged in Central Africa.
When the AWCON was held in Equatorial Guinea (a central African country) in 2008 and 2012, the Falcons lost in the semi-finals on both occasions.
In 2008, they lost 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea and also 1-0 to South Africa in 2012.


3. Falcons' Invincibility In AWC Final Matches
After contesting in Nine AWCON final matches, the Falcons are yet to lose.

During the period the tournament was played on a home and away format, the Falcons beat Cameroon and South Africa 6-0 and 7-1 on aggregate in 1991 and 1995 respectively in the final rounds to be crowned African champions.
And when it became known as the Africa Women's Championship (later changed to Africa Women's Cup of Nations in 2015), the Falcons beat Ghana 2-0 in the 1998 final, beat South Africa 2-0 in the 2000 final, defeated Ghana 2-0 in the 2002 final, walloped Cameroon 5-0 in the final of the 2004 edition, edged Ghana 1-0 at AWCON 2006 final, secured a hard-fought 4-2 final win against Equatorial Guinea in the AWCON final of 2010, and overcame Cameroon 2-0 in the final of the 2014 edition.


4. Falcons Never Conceded Goal First In An AWCON Final
In all the nine final matches the Falcons have played in, they've never conceded goal first and came from behind to win.


5. Falcons Holds The Record Of The Highest Number of Goals Scored In An AWCON Final
In the 2004 AWCON final, the Falcons thrashed Cameroon 5-0, creating the record for the highest number of goals scored in a final match.
The closest to that was achieved by hosts Equatorial Guinea who defeated South Africa 4-0 in the final of 2012 edition.
Though they beat Cameroon 6-0 and South Africa 7-1 on aggregate in 1991 and 1995 in the final rounds before CAF made it into a tournament.
