You say you want to diversify, you say you want to industrialize, as things stand, you have a deficit of 40,000MW, you only have 5000MW, you are talking of 700MW, your population is growing everyday, you are celebrating 700MW as if it will make any difference. Bt the time the 700MW comes on strean polulation growth would have eaten it up. Idiots!!!!! Some morons will be there shouting Fashola is working!!! |

arabralph: We had the same issues under GEJ too.....that is why he privatized power.(Because private sector can raise the money better...see GSM). Under GEJ....maximum generation was 6000MW...which is enough to guarantee 12 hours of light for everyone. Right now....irrespective of what Fashola said....I doubt we would see improvement now. We need to improve generation, and improve/replace the transmission system, and that needs $100billion extra funding every year. You get the money? |

this is why people say this regime needs to focus on the business of governance & not chasing shadows. the Zungeru project took off in 2013 (along with a number of other similar projects) & was to be completed in 3-4 years (its partly funded by the Chinese government). however, the issue of compensation for host communities made the project move at a slow pace. & it is a very good development that PMB has resolved the matter. & if he can set his vindictive nature aside, he would see that the last administration was certainly on the right path when it came to infrastructure & policies & it behoves PMB to set aside his ego & embrace those projects. already we have seen that he is now 'stylishly' continuing with some projects initiated by GEJ... from IPPIS to TSA... from rail projects to power plants purchasing arms from the East since the West isn't cooperative. YOUWIN & others. no government can do it all or get it all right. so why give blanket condemnations? PMB at the end of his tenure will also leave unfinished projects that are beneficial & it will behove on his successor to complete those projects in the interest of Nigerians rather than deny the existence of such & then later eat their words by continuing those same projects when they realise the inherent benefits. God bless Nigeria. for instance, |

9jakohai: stop deceiving yourselves, Nigeria as it stands needs 40,000MW anybody who tells you Nigeria can give the whole country 12 hr light with 6000MW is lying to you. Maybe you have light in Lagos but it does not mean the guy in Ilorin or Aba will have light |
Re: 700 Megawatts To Be Added To National Grid – FG by Nobody: 8:33am On Dec 17, 2016 |
vodutive: And 60-70% of Nigerians , as well as most Nigerian govt and private institutions do not pay their power bills. Fashola could do more....but now that power is privatized, he cant do much. Add the fact that the problem needs $100Bn extra funding per annum....money which GEJ the ''good '' leader did not have....hence privatization. It isn't just generation....we need to fix the transmission system too. And that is why we need to pay our bills....Govt inclusive. You cannot demand service without payment. |

vodutive: Which is what I have said earlier on this thread.....and which is why we all need to pay our bills, we need more meters, and we need to get our transmission and generation fixed. And all that needs money.....$100 billion per annum for 5 years. according to a 2014 estimate |

9jakohai: Nigeria does not need $100B per annum. $100B will build you 60,0000MW. 60,000MW is more than enough. $5B per year spent with sincerity will add 30,000MW over 10 years that is 5 or 6 times what we have been able to acheive in 56 years. While I agree in principle that people need to pay their bills. The truth is the power sector was sold to opportunists who are not specialists, they are not going to expand capacity. They are happy to collect monies for what is on ground without expanding. 1 Like |

9jakohai: totally agreed. but we do have to start somewhere... & our installed capacity is about 12,000 MW... |

dunkem21: They should learn to make the citizens do the "noise making" for them. . We ain't even enjoying what we have now. . . Adding 700mw to what we have and we won't still feel it. |
