Re: Share Your UTME Experience. by MrFox1(m): 11:01pm On Nov 17, 2009
Whao!!! Institutions will make lots of money off students next year o, enough scratch cards, enough post-UTMEs.  Admission officers will reap off so many. See money!!!

God help us. If you dont have admission already, I feel so sorry for you, admission is not free and fair anymore. What am I even saying, exams are not free and fair, so I guess its balanced.

Except there is a cry to government, there is nothing anyone of you can do about it.
Pay for JAMB                         #4,500
scratch card for centre          #    500
scratch card for result           #    500
pay for 6 post UTME              #6,000- #18,000
Scratch card for result           #    500
Travel to 6 Post UTME centres#6,000-#12,000

An average value of about #27,000, now imagine the amount in only a 100,000 places.
That is over 2.7billion Naira on admission runs only.

I was just being conservative by working with 100,000. Last UME JAMB was taken by 1,145,961 candidates. I am working with an average 10% of candidates being successful.
Admission run has a great economic importance as you can see.

For those who will settle supervisor and admission officers, una just begin to spend.

Good luck all the same. Read hard o, prepare well and pass the JAMB exam to get the highest score.
I will keep praying for all of you.
Re: Share Your UTME Experience. by Dclique(m): 7:48pm On Nov 18, 2009
The whole exam was designed and created to STOP the exploitation of student through post-ume.
So all that isn't going to happen.

No more post-ume and it should reduce the rate of extortion from individuals claiming to be able get you admission(Runs).
Re: Share Your UTME Experience. by nazzyon(m): 10:34pm On Nov 18, 2009
A good news but something needs to be done about the fee because the fee to be paid for JAMB is more than that of SAT.

This is great news. I pray the extortion is reduced drastically and brilliant people get the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
Re: Share Your UTME Experience. by VALIDATOR: 7:50am On Nov 19, 2009
Jamb exams were loosing their credibility, that was why many schools introduced Post-Jamb exams. Imagine when a student who was said to have scored 280+ in UME found it difficult to cope with normal university course work and having very low GPA at the end of the first session in school and hence being kicked out of school.

Relying on only UTME will make it difficult to admit the best students since most of the highest scoring candidates had their exams written for them by university students or gradutes or NYSC guys especially in the eastern part of the country I witnessed this live !
The big question is how will the alleged new UTME stop uni students and graduates and NYSC guys from writing Jamb exams for people?
Will there also now be recorded videos of each exam room to watch so that we can know their was no cheating at the exam centre?

My summary is that UTME is just gonna be like NEPA >>> PHCN

Where is Nigeria headed to? as far as I am concerned, this UTME is purely some kind of a test-run . . . it will be scrapped in the long run if admission officers dont gain from it.

Jamb utme is to replace both jamb ume and jamb mpce. The results would be valid for two years.
Re: Share Your UTME Experience. by Dclique(m): 2:44pm On Nov 19, 2009
Thats the best part.
Its going to be valid for two years and this will reduce the number of candidates that take the exam.
