Ebira Must Be Better (EMBB) group has urged the Kogi State governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello to pay the eight to twelve months outstanding salary of the state workers without further delay.
The group, in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Danfulani Ohinoyi Lukman, and made available to Kogi Reports, expressed her commitment to workers’ welfare. The group alleged that Governor Bello of misplaced priority by paying the salary of his political office holders and as well spending the State resources for his own personal use but failed to pay civil servant for the period eight to twelve months.
Comrade Danfulani however asked Governor Bello to come out and explain to the whole world the true position of the financial status of the State and reason why the State government could not pay its workforce for the period of eight to twelve months, after the State is still collecting all her monthly allocations. He called on the well meaning people, including monarchs, political leaders and others in the State to wade into the matter before it went out of hands. Comrade Danfulani described the ongoing warning strike by Polytechnic staff in the state as a welcome development in the face of Gov. Bello’s nonchalant attitude to the State workers’ plight, regretting that Bello’s government has disappointed the people of the State. He said Gov. Bello’s term in office has become disaster to the people of the State. Describing Bello’s administration as clueless and unfriendly to the State workforce, he insisted that the accumulated twelve months unpaid workers’ salary after an unending screening which even led to the death of some civil in the State was as a result of Bello’s mis-management of State resources and hatred for the workers.
According to comrade Danfulani, “It is a pity that Bello that promised to pay Kogi State workers salary throughout the period of his administration without any delay cannot pay eight to twelve months’ salary of the workers in the first year of his term in office. “The only solution to the problem on ground is for Governor Bello to pay the outstanding workers salary without further delay. “Governor Bello first year in office has become clueless and unfriendly to the people of the State, particularly, the workers”.
