Splinz:I see that, you obviously need sense, what part of giving your life to the service of god is classified as 'burnt'. Bros the verse is clear enough, 'burnt offering' means burnt offering. |

Splinz: Ur view is wack.next time u have such erroneous view keep it to urself and stop shamelessly bringing it out to public. U can't deliberately bend the fact and expect to sell it to the public. How in the word can u convince anyone that burnt offering means service to God? 5 Likes 1 Share |

Lennycool: like I said on another thread I feel very sorry for most Christians who were indoctrinated and forced to accept this terrible doctrine without being told what it contains. Now they try to make sense of their worldview by making excuses for the text. It was written at a brutal time by less than moral people with the goal of controlling the masses, when you try to make it fit into today's world you have to twist the words pretty hard to make them jive. In my experience, the more a professed Christian considers the Bible to be metaphorical, the more he or she displays the qualities of a good person whose actions are compatible with modern civilization. As I’ve said to liberal Christians in the past, why not just dump the last bit of baggage you’re carrying and call yourself a humanist already? 99% of Christians from ages past would consider liberal Christians to be damned heretics. What does that say about your “interpretation?” What are your actual reasons for clinging to the last limp vestiges of a morally-obsolete bronze age superstition? Certainly, your reasons have nothing to do with the text of the Bible itself 8 Likes 1 Share |

Splinz:The vow wasn't consecration, it was burning whatever was the first to come and greet him... He actually burnt his daughter... She bewailed her virginity because she was to die a virgin without any issue |
Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by Flygeriansteve: 8:36am On Jan 23, 2017 |
The Bible actually talks about presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable before God which is reasonable service. Now that is clear enough and is the type that Samuel underwent. But there's no other explanation to burnt offering. It was simply burnt to crisp and its smoke went up to heaven where God savoured it. That's the fate Jephthah's daughter suffered. 2 Likes 1 Share |

randomperson: Bro, I have seen both of these arguments, no be today. It makes no sense at all to wail over your virginity instead of your actual dead. I've done my own personal studies and reached conclusions. So, thanks for your input. |

Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by Splinz(m): 1:30pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
Goalnaldo: I hear you, true. . At least he paid dearly for it by forfeiting his only child to chastity, thereby having no one to carry his line after their death. This is enough reason to make anybody sad. |
Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by randomperson: 1:55pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
Splinz:Actually, it does make sense to wail your virginity. At those times, having children was the point of being a woman, or a human being for that matter.. So if she had a child already, it won't be to tragic. But the tragedy was that she died without an issue.... This is the promise he made: " 31 I will burn as an offering the first person that comes out of my house to meet me, when I come back from the victory. I will offer that person to you as a sacrifice.” And the bible records that he fulfilled that promise. So who should I believe, the bible or Splinz |

Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by Splinz(m): 2:22pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
randomperson: Hmm. I never knew you're now a believer bro, or is it only this story that you believed?... . Anyways, God has never commanded a human burnt offering. So, what I believed is what I've stated and it is in perfect harmony with other Scriptures. Jephthah never burnt his daughter, and that's it. Nobody is saying you shouldn't believe your own as an atheist or whatever. Great you guys are now believers of the Bible... |
Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by randomperson: 4:33pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
Splinz:So the basis of your conclusion is that God has never commanded human killing?? He actually tested Abraham with that exact same thing. If God considered it so terrible, he wouldn't have tested Abraham with it. The bible clearly says burnt offering, you can't prove that he said otherwise. You just looking for excuses to continue believing in a God that's so ostensibly evil. BTW, the best books of fiction are a mixture of both facts and fiction. Just read any of Dan Brown's books. |

Splinz:I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 KJV http://bible.com/1/rom.12.1.KJV |

Re: Did Jephthah Actually Burnt His Daughter As A Sacrifice To God? by Splinz(m): 5:56pm On Jan 23, 2017 |
randomperson: Bro, save yourself the stress. You have your own beliefs (whether non-belief) and I also have mine. So far, my own beliefs have serves me so perfectly well that I need not learn anything from you (at least as it concerns my faith as a Christian). These talks of God being evil bla bla bla wouldn't change my own convictions personally learnt and experience. If you're an atheist or whatever, fine! I am a Christian and believed wholeheartedly in God and His righteousness. Deal with it. PS: I wonder what makes you think I've not read Dan's books. |
