Can people with international relations knowledge educate me here ?

For the past few days the media have been awash with the second after second events in the Gambia, about the political upheaval ongoing in the west African country after President Jammeh refused to step down following his loss at presidential polls.

Way back in 90's, IBB's candidate lost presidential elections to Abiola and subsequently, IBB had the young man jailed and denied him his legitimate position as POFRN. ECOWAS did shiiit. Not even a single tank assemble near our borders. Why the unequal treatment?

Is ECOWAS and AU biased?

Ukraine is not a NATO country and so NATO had no obligation to respond militarily.
UKraine already submited application to be a member which was still under review when Putin seized the moment and struck.
If Ukraine had being a member of NATO, that would been a direct and immediate WW3.
That was why Russia could not respond when Turkey shot down Russian fighter jets.

ECOWAS took advantage of Gambia because of its small size and population. A country with only 2million population and about 2000 soldiers.

Don't mind the dude. AU and Ecowas had every right t to do to Nigeria at that moment, what they have done to The Gambia, the reason is why did they not

It's like asking why UN allowed Bush go ahead with his Iraqi invasion. Nigeria mata too big for ECOWAS to handle. Our population is the population of the other ECOWAS states combined

So you mean to say they're cowards?

But that excuse is not enough, if ecowas had felt their military strength wouldn't suffice, what's the role of AU?

I just don't understand this ecowas. I think they are a shitty organization and without Nigerian, they are empty balls.

Same Buhari-led FG that ecowas court ordered to grant Kanu bail is leading the committee against Jammeh. After his disobedience to court injunctions.

As far as I know, the electoral commission never announced Abiola as the winner of that election

How did he emerge victorious and winner undecided

Even international bodies recognised he was the winner in the much reputed free and fair election in our national history.

Naturally, African nations have always had this respect for Nigeria, so they probably thought we were big enough to handle our politics on our own. If the crisis had deteriorated to a civil way, maybe they would have Intervened. Besides even if a war happened in Nigeria, it would take immense resources; a large army, equipments and determination for any external non-military super power to suceed. No African country would consider the risk worth taking they'll just leave us to kill ourselves. They'll only try to mediate the crisis like the "Aburi" accord b4 the civil war. An ultimatum from the AU to the Nigerian govt will be laughed at.

For years the AU have being struggling to bring peace to Somalia how much more a 923,000sq-m country with nearly 200m inhabitants.

Then both the AU and Ecowas are bodies of cowards and shameless constituent countries. They only watch out for little countries to bully and leave failed nation as Nigeria to keep deteriorating, while countries like Libya, Egypt, Morocco and other Muslim African countries are too big to handle.

Indeed, it pays to be a big country. But at the end, even without external aggression, the big country would implode following serial crises.

That dude was born yesterday. He wasn't alive when the events of the mid 90s were ongoing in Nigeria. Even that, is no excuse, he had data connection but chose to stick with ignorance.

You IPOB Yoots are very ignorant, don't you know Nigeria is ECOWAS and ECOWAS is Nigeria, same way you expect Nigeria to obey ECOWAS court rulings on NK.

As you said it pays to be a big country. Nigeria is to ECOWAS as US is to NATO.

BTW, I thought you said you had a job, what are you doing here?

You know what hurts the Osus the most about the Gambia episode? It is the fact that it didnt end up in war and the cawardly president quietly left. They were looking forward to seeing pictuures of dead nigerian soldiers so they can celebrate and insult the president. Thank God their hopes were dashed.

Trust me, the bastards would have supported Jameh. grin

Ecowas and Au must be disbanded for their dishonesty and partial obligations. There is no more honesty, sincerity of purpose and balls left in them. Any African or international society that still takes them seriously must be high on SK.

As for your last paragraph. Even on my busy days, when the necessity is too high, I squeeze out little time for useful discourse, but on my leisure days, I still wouldn't imagine myself indulging in dirty, mud-infested, unproductive tribal fights and d1ck measuring contest with your ilks.

F00l, if you had any allegiance left in you, you would have supported any foreign power to oust the dictator in IBB and install your SON and true winner at the polls, president of the Republic.

But like the old saying goes, afonjas have no loyalty and are as weakling as they come.

The one that finally breaks the camel back was the recent ecowas ruling that zakazi should be release from detention but pmb ignored her ruling.

It's not about ecowas doing nothing.

But why did it fail in teaming up with AU military strength and deposing the bastard IBB.

This makes no sense.
