Funnicator: Invading Nigeria is nearly impossible for an African army. You'll need a very large army to even conceptualize the idea, except you have a really badass air force. And then, there's the question of funding. |

Fifthcolumnist: SMH. In that case we'd remain in the hands of whatever dictator that refuses to step down simply because no organization can invade us. I thought Yoruba's threatened GEJ he would be Ben Gbagbo 'd should he refuse to concede defeat. Where is bolustic and his trolls friends. |

Funnicator: If GEJ had seized power, the worse case scenario would be a massive civil insurrection in the North, and maybe a military take over. No African Nation would start a war of attrition with Nigeria. 1 Like |

They were two different cases. The difference between the two cases was that the Gambia electoral umpire declared a winner in the race - even worse still Yahya Jammeh accepted defeat, even though he later rescinded his pronouncement. However, in the case of IBB and Nigeria, the electoral umpire didn't declare the final result - no body was announced as a winner, so Abiola was merely notionally the winner of that race but without any legal/constitutional backing. 2 Likes |

Diplomaticbeing: Can you wisely provide proof of your talks that Abiola wasn't declared winner of the said elections? |
Re: Why ECOWAS Silence After IBB Truncated Abiola Presidency? by Nobody: 6:32pm On Jan 22, 2017 |
Diplomaticbeing: He already had 56% of the valid votes from 2/3 of the states so technically he had won the elections. In all journals, internationally and locally he is recognised as winner of the '93 elections. Jammeh's case is not different. He just didn't get away with the old trick. |
Re: Why ECOWAS Silence After IBB Truncated Abiola Presidency? by Diplomaticbeing(m): 6:43pm On Jan 22, 2017 |
Fifthcolumnist: Kindly study the constitution pre-95 constitutional national conference. Meanwhile, even as it stands today, a presidential candidate winning majority votes and at least 25 percent of votes casted in 2/3 of the Nigerian states cannot legally/constitutionally guarantee such a candidate the presidential seat until the sane and sound head of the electoral umpire declare such a candidate winner. The masses would always have their say while the politicians have their way. |

Diplomaticbeing: You're being economical with the truth bro. He wasn't declared winner by the NEC chairman but he was apparently the winner from collated votes since there was no way his opponent could have caught with him. The annulment was completely illogical and stupid and everybody agreed with that. I don't see how that's different from Jammeh's case. 1 Like |

Fifthcolumnist: Forget about what is written in wikipedia. Humphrey Nwosu did not announce the winner before it was annulled. You can ask any elderly person around you. The elections were still being counted and so far MKO was leading before the annulment. 1993 is just like yesterday to me because I was even among those that protested. |

Funnicator: Pls keep quiet there. If you witnessed it, you would have known they were still collating the result when it was annulled. There was no time Humphrey Nwosu declared MKO as the winner. We used the open ballot system then, so it was easy for people to know the winner even without the chairman declaring. Go and ask your elders to explain it to properly to you and stop forming what you are not. |

Re: Why ECOWAS Silence After IBB Truncated Abiola Presidency? by Nobody: 7:02am On Jan 23, 2017 |
Funnicator: The simple answer is...those that control the world and the global resources decide whom to remove and whom to stay. Jonathan deep in his mind wanted to reject Buhari's supposed victory but he knew those that control the world wanted him out like they wanted Gbagbo and Jammeh out, to install people who will do their bidding. Save this post...few yrs from now, Gambia economy will be worse than Zimbabwe. That's how after Attah of Ghana died whom under is tenure Ghana economy was almost like western countries, they installed a Fulani man, then Ghana economy nose-dived into recession and has never recovered! Buhari is no different... another Fulani man. And coincidentally Barrow, the newly elected president of Gambia is also a Fulani man! |
Re: Why ECOWAS Silence After IBB Truncated Abiola Presidency? by Noneroone(m): 7:06am On Jan 23, 2017 |
Funnicator:abiola was not declared winner in the election. So technically there was no winner. If he had been declared winner IBb would have no legitimacy to hold on. Also quattara was declared winner hence gbagbo was ousted. |

Funnicator:1) IBB did not contest so there's no way he could have conceded. 2) In 1993, there was no AU. 3) After the annulment, IBB stepped aside. 4) Nigeria is Ecowas . |

AZeD1: 1: he may have not, but he couldn't have annulled an election to be free and fair even if he never contested. 3: yes he stepped aside, handing over to a stooge who never contested for election. Denying the true winner his right. 4: if Nigeria is ecowas then it proves my assertion that it is a shiitty and weak organization. 2: no au in 93? Scroll down and see this pic

Noneroone: SMH. I guess since buhari was initially leading Jonathan in the election announcement and orubebe successfully disrupted jega from eventually announcing buhari winner, if it happened that way buhari would therefore not be winner and goodluck could fix another election. Right? |
