Buhari knew all these things before he campaigned 4 times to become president. He was also part of the military elite that took Nigeria down this route so how are you able to absolve him of any responsibility? This is the same man who claimed that Abacha was not corrupt. The same man who claimed to attack Boko Haram, via emergency measures, would amount to an attack on the north. This is a man who kept making noise about his integrity yet consistently lied (and still lies) to the public about his health and his assets. Talks about integrity and his desire to 'stamp out corruption' whilst stood between Tinubu and Amaechi with the ghost of Abacha in the background. Nigeria can and will get better, it has done in the past 17 years despite the noise and lies made by people calling themselves 'APC', anyone claiming that Nigeria of 1998 was better than Nigeria in 2014 is a liar. And I choose 2014 instead of 2017 because that was the last time that Nigeria was managed with any sense of sanity. People make mistakes and progress is a process but Buhari is not, nor was he ever, likely to take Nigeria forward. He came to power because of the backlash as a result of GEJ being from the Niger Delta in the same way that Trump is now president of America because of Obama's ethnic background. Bigots and ignoramuses in two countries have colluded to destroy their own environments, both countries will suffer as a result. |
