igbogolo:

wow, wow, wow. sosoliso's ROSE OF ENUGU!
the first and the most cranky plane in its fleet. so sad it killed those kids and led to the demise of the airline.
learnt that the accident bureau blamed weather for the crash.
issue now is would this airline be able to get up again?

the owner really had plans i must say. sosoliso single handedly made the lagos enugu-oweri routes and developed them when other airlines were only interested in lag-abv-phc routes. his last plane, called in God we trust was just freshly delivered before the crash. sad! all his planes has since been sold.

has the airline paid compensation by the way> have not heard much from that angle since. sosoliso is one airline i miss. am sure our former minister frank nweke feels the same way too.

I never had any grudge with that airline, until after the crash. The airline officials had not human sympathy. Till date, many have not collected any form of compensation. Yes, some families are having internal quarrels about who collects the money, but how much are they offerring these families. The most painful of it is that, they went back to federal government to help them retrieve their licence, so that they can make some cash, and then come back and pay these families. What a shame. Where they flying uninsured aircrafts? They even offerred some families $40,000 under the guise of out of court settlement. The law states it clear, it $100,000 sheknah!. angry angry angry

Nice pics and good job. Airlines all over the world come and go. Yet others
stand the test of time. It is easily one of those high risk investments.

How I wished all these airlines survived till date, especially Okada, they would have been competing at the international level.

Re: First Commercial Flight To Akwa-ibom From Abuja Airport (with Arik Air) by Enjoyment1(f): 12:44pm On Dec 14, 2009
This Airline is now defunct. The airline could not maintain its AOC. The airline is grounded since 1/5/2007

Re: First Commercial Flight To Akwa-ibom From Abuja Airport (with Arik Air) by sandee575(f): 12:44pm On Dec 14, 2009
Ear trouble during flight is made worse by poor cabin pressurisation control
and the quiet landing on the F-28 aircraft is due to the absence of reversers
which constitute the noise heard on some other planes. The purpose
of reversers is to assist deceleration of the plane during landing roll by reversing
the engine push. F-28 deceleration is solely by application of the brakes and wing spoilers.
Re: First Commercial Flight To Akwa-ibom From Abuja Airport (with Arik Air) by Enjoyment1(f): 12:46pm On Dec 14, 2009
This is Halleluyah II. The aircraft was still flying as at when it was grounded for not maintaining her AOC.

The Boeings seen in the pictures and belonging to SpaceWorld, NICON airways, FRESH Air,
BELLVIEW are lying in the "graveyard" because they are the B737-200 series, are well over the stipulated
retiring age of 22 years and nobody wants to buy them because of the huge amount their sringent checks would entail and
cost the prospective buyer coming from even where their usage is still allowed. The most feasible solution is to "cannibalize"
them i.e cutting them up, taking the fuselage to aluminium smelting plants and moulding the retrieved metal into cooking pots
and what have you in the aluminium industry. The metal is used in the making of aircraft body because of its resistance to rust and its light weight.

BOAC. This is one of the foremost carriers in Nigeria. G-ARVF (cn 808) Seen about to depart for Kano in Nigeria, on this date this aircraft performed a route proving flight for Vickers and BOAC from London-Lagos-Kano-London. Later sold to the Government of the UAE, now preserved at the Hermeskeil Museum in Germany.

Lets not waste tears on Okada and other historical names. We should be welcoming the likes of
Arik Airlines with their up to date fleet of B737-700-800 series and competing with the Cathay Pacifics
of the airline world. Arik Airlines Airbus 340-500 is the newest machine operating on the international scene
beating Virgin Atlantic and others hands down. Their aircraft maintenance is being carried out by Lufthansa Technics.
Flight Operations control is state of the art. Im not canvassing here.

You are not canvassing, but creating awareness here. As a result of this posting, many are now well educated about happenings in the Nigerian Aviation sector. It is not all about castigating, but giving information.

Re: First Commercial Flight To Akwa-ibom From Abuja Airport (with Arik Air) by Enjoyment1(f): 1:54pm On Dec 14, 2009
I specifically brought this picture to make a point. Now look at these Boeing 737 - 200 series by the side of Nigerian Airways aircraft. The aircraft belongs to ADC Airlines and the registered number is 5N-BED. This veteran world traveller (the aircraft) has found a permanent resting place at Lagos . Before it's delivery to ADC Airlines in 2002, it flew for Brittania Airways, Spantax (EC-DXK), Midway Airlines (N17808) and Air New Zealand.

Now look at the number of Airlines that used it before delivering it to ADC Airlines. That used to be the plight of Nigeria's aviation sector until Arik Air broke all records.

This is ALLIED AIR Boeing 727 Cargo Aircraft. The registered number is 5N-OTI. Two men, apparently guards, sit underneath this ex Delta (N297WA) aircraft. It was converted into a freighter at Miami and delivered to Allied Air in 2005. Although it is parked much of the time around Lagos, it is listed on DAS Air Cargo's website as one of the aircrafts available to DAS's customers.

Hhmmm!!!!! 5N-BED had to rest someday after "a life well spent"
with ADC as able and willing undertakers. Enjoy, nothing spoil o.

But una don do serious research because ADC had removed their
identity from the plane so as to avoid this kind wahala. World people!!!!!
