We want to talk about the relationship that exists between friends. This relationship is called 'friendship'; which is said to be the condition of being friends or a relationship as friends.
In the typical sequence of an individual's emotional development, friendships come after parental bonding and before pair bonding. In the intervening period between the end of early childhood and the onset of full adulthood, friendships are often the most important relationships in the emotional life of an adolescent and are often more intense than relationships later in life.
It has been found that adolescents were less likely to engage in problem behavior (such as steal!ng, fig*hting, truancy) when their friend did well in school, participated in school activities, avoid drinking and had good mental health. The reverse was found regarding youngsters who did connect in problematic manners.
It would be worthy to note that; friendships formed post-secondary education last longer than friendships formed earlier. Life events, such as marital status, change in parenthood, residential moves and change in career can impact the quality and quantity of friendships. It is due to these changes that adults find that they have fewer friends than they had in younger years.
