As much as one would wish that intrigues of the civil war were never recounted, we must never also shy away from pointing out deliberate lies wickedly peddled to denigrate those who stood for Nigerian Unity.

Awo had no command over Yoruba troops in the Nigerian army. He held no executive or ceremonial position in any government in Nigeria at the time Nigeria and Biafra were preparing for war, yet some people thought he had the power to pull Yoruba out of Nigeria. How? Even if someone promised you a thing shouldn't you be wise enough to know whether the person had express or implied authority or power to fulfill the promise?

At any rate before the first shot was fired Awo left no one in doubt that he was for one Nigeria in accordance with Aguiyi Ironsi Unification Decree in 1966.

Some people are too tribalistic to blame Ironsi who demolished Regional Structures and Federalism.

The most shocking was Zik who wrote the Biafran anthem at the outset of the Civil war only to switch allegiance to Gowon government before Biafra itself capitulated. Was Zik a traitor? or did he see reason like Awo did before the war broke out?

But we know the mission of the neo-Biafran is simple: To Hate Nigeria and Ignore every fact that seeks to cure tribalistic ignorance.

There problem has always been that of lack of foresight.

Awo suggested insertion of secession clause in constitution, Zik aligned with the North to thwart.

Awo asked Zik to form Govt with him. As usual, he aligned with the North again.

They blame Awo for the loss of their futile war, but their greatest man ultimately reasoned with his Brain at last and he had no choice than to switch side.

Zik wrote the Biafran national Anthem? That is news to me because I read differently elsewhere.

Going by what Zik said at the Nigerian Embassy in London where he announced his return to 'one Nigeria' after initially supporting Biafra, it seems that Zik lost faith in the war.

Having witnessed death, suffering and starvation, he decided that enough was enough.

Definitely, Zik would never have abandoned Biafra if Biafra had been winning. Zik was a politician at the end of the day, politicians are prone to 'decamping'

"Land of the Rising Sun " was the proclaimed national anthem of the secessionist African state of Biafra , in south-eastern Nigeria . The tune was adopted from
Sibelius' "Finlandia" , and written by Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Land of the Rising Sun (anthem)
National anthem
Land of Ebuka sun, we love and cherish,
Beloved homeland of our brave heroes;
We must defend our lives or we shall perish,
We shall protect our Obj from all our foes;
But if the price is death for all we hold dear,
Then let us die without a shred of fear.
Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation,
O fatherland, this be our solemn pledge:
Defending thee shall be a dedication,
Spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege;
The waving standard which emboldens the free
Shall always be our flag of liberty.
We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal,
And through the crucible unscathed we’ll pass;
When we are poised the wounds of battle to heal,
We shall remember those who died in mass;
Then shall our trumpets peal the glorious song
Of victory we scored o’er might and wrong.
Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall,
Guide all our movements lest we go astray;
Give us the strength to heed the humanist call:
To give and not to count the cost’ each day;
Bless those who rule to serve with resoluteness,
To make this clime a land of righteousness.

The Great Zik of Africa composed the beautiful anthem. He eventually helped Nigerian government to quash the Biafran rising sun

in the anthem you will find "if death be the price, let us all die" Neither Ojukwu nor Zik believed that verse. But a lot of Biafran believed what their leaders never believed. In all honesty and without sounding patronising, those innocent Biafran are the true heroes of the Civil war. They remain the greatest examples of citizenry a country should be proud. I hope that Nigeria will one day have citizens not just soldiers who are prepared to defend their fatherland with their lives.

You the all knowing god. tell the world what Awo as a private citizen could have done. If the Biafran leaders who styled themselves Christians had read the Luke 14:31 they wouldn't have engaged Nigerian troops in armed conflict.

READ.

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.

You wouldn't know what a hero was even if it hits you in the face.
The Tibetan Dalai Lama is presently in India and fighting China.
The only freedom fighter ever to stay and fight was the leader of the Tamil tigers. Guess what happened after he was killed?

A good General knows when to retreat.

Why are you wasting your time to explain these simple things to the biabia warriors? How can these 'champions of warfare' understand that awo as a private citizen who was just released from prison had no army he could have called on? You know they live only by the wisdom packed into their fists cheesy

Ojuikwu was a degenerate one-testicled dishevelled power hungry dickhead. Wasted those innocent lives in his idiotic quest for power only for their future generations, ignorant and useless are they are, to wake up everyday to sing praises of the murderous prehistoric gargoyle.

What a crying shame.
