To be frank that man no be am.He doesn't look GOVERNMENTAL at all.

He is not a civil servant, he is an official looter of Oyo state. You may only compare his picture with popular fat armed robbers[they must be white like him or at least look Fulani] and see whether they look alike.

2011: Alao-Akala’s race against history in Oyo

Monday, December 21, 2009
As the race towards the 2011 general election across the country hots up, Assistant Editor, Dapo Falade, X-rays the chances of the incumbent governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, against the backdrop of the political antecedents in the pace-setter state.

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/21/603.html

THOUGH the conduct of the next general election is still about 14 months away, it is a fact that the race for elective public offices across the country has begun in earnest. Interested parties have variously been engaging in all sorts of schemings to ensure their victory at the polls. With the exception of Anambra State, where the governorship election is taking place next February, Kogi and Ekiti states, where there will be no election for the numero uno position, political gladiators in other parts of the country are hotly engaged in the race for the governorship.

In Oyo State, while it may be early to talk about who and who are eyeing the Oke Oyibo Government House, it would not be out of place to say that serious contenders are gradually emerging, with the incumbent governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, appearing to be the man to beat.

Alao-Akala, by virtue of his current position and given his long record of active participation in politics from the grass-roots level, seems to be far ahead of others in the race. However, it will be apposite to say that the man of the moment would be contending against several forces in his bid to make history as the first governor in the Pacesetter State to be re-elected into office. In fact, given the array of political gladiators said to be angling for the governorship seat, it may be more than an uphill task for the governor to retain his seat in 2011. What then are the forces or hurdles that Alao-Akala would be contending with as the election approaches?

Oyo State, the heritage of the defunct Western Region, is well known for its political sophistication. This fact may be the singular reason why not quite a few politicians within and outside the state pay more than a passing attention to the build-up to the 2011 elections.

Apart from the sitting governor, other top politicians said to be interested in the governorship seat include (but are not limited to) the immediate past governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja; Senator Abiola Ajimobi; Honourable Soji Akanbi; Dr. Ismail Adewusi; Chief Femi Lanlehin and Professor Wale Oyemakinde. However, the possibility of several others emerging from the other political parties cannot be ruled out. Undoubtedly, these politicians and many more will give the governor a run for his money in the race.

Alao-Akala was Ladoja’s deputy between 2003 and 2006, when he was impeached by the state legislature. Alao-Akala then assumed the mantle of leadership for a period of 11 months. While the circumstances surrounding his impeachment remain a contentious issues among political analysts, Ladoja was able to regain his seat via a judicial pronouncement which declared his removal null and void. Alao-Akala reverted to his former position as the deputy governor. However, the deed had been done, as the relationship that existed between the duo thereafter degenerated. Upon his return, Ladoja tried all he could to thwart the governorship ambition of Alao-Akala in the build-up to the 2007 election as he too was interested in retaining his seat then. But, as fate would have it, Alao-Akala emerged victorious in the election to become the sixth elected governor of the state.

It is, therefore, not surprising that not quite a few watchers of the unfolding events in the state are interested in the yet to-be-declared ambition of the former governor to take a shot, once again, at the office. Many are of the opinion that the emergence of Ladoja may turn the apple cart against Alao-Akala.

However, another school of thought has it that Ladoja is a spent force who cannot stop the realisation of the second term ambition of Alao-Akala. Those who are in this category pointed out that most of those who recently joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, Ibarapa, Oyo and Oke-Ogun areas of the state were aggrieved members, who left the party in the wake of the 2007 general election.

Speaking in this light, Special Adviser to Governor Akala on Public Communications, Prince Dotun Oyelade, recently told the Nigerian Tribune that the backbone of Ladoja in the aforementioned areas had returned to Alao-Akala’s camp, shortly after Ladoja made known his intention to run in 2011. He specifically mentioned Chief Michael Adegbite, Chief Adigun Irawo, Chief Adewale Atanda and Chief Jacob Adetoro.

In the mould of the political strength of Ladoja is Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the governorship candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2007. The former Managing Director of Mobil Oil scared the hell out of the Alao-Akala camp in the election, providing the most viable alternative to the growing influence of the PDP which, if unchecked then, would have turned Oyo into a one-paty state.

In the build-up to the election, the relationship between Ajimobi and former Governor Lam Adesina, turned sour, leading to his defection from the Action Congress (AC) to the ANPP. However, as part of the processes to checkmate the PDP, the Oyo State leadership of the AC, in conjunction with former Lagos State helmsman, Senator Bola Tinubu, recently held a reconciliatory meeting in Ibadan, where Ajimobi formally declared for the AC.

While some analysts are of the opinion that the return of Ajimobi into the AC would provide a formidable platform for the opposition parties to gain a foothold in Oyo politics, several others hold a contrary view, claiming that the new accord between Lam and Ajimobi is a facade. Reinforcing the view, the former governor, in a recent interview with the Sunday Tribune, said that the return of Ajimobi does not translate into an automatic ticket for him on the platform of the AC. He added that Ajimobi, like any other aspirant, must go through the party’s primaries where the candidates for the elections would emerge. To those who want to water down the chances of Ajimobi, Lam’s stance is an indication that he would not easily capitulate to a man whom he brought into political limelight only to subject him (Lam) to public ridicule in the build-up to the 2007 elections.

Ibadan people cautioned on Alao-Akala’s second term ambition
Qudirat Hakeem-Apanpa
Monday, December 21, 2009
THE chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Gbenga Adewusi, has advised the people of the state to be cautious on the issue of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s intention to seek second term in office.

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/21/622.html

Adewusi said this recently when he featured on Hot Seat, a special programme of the Oyo State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), held at the Press Centre, Ibadan.

According to him, “it is not the first time anyone would seek a second term and if Ibadan people feel it is their rights to produce the governor, then they are not being realistic.

“Anyone can seek elective post for as much as the constitution permits, especially when he has lived up to the expectations of the people and provided them with social amenities like Governor Alao-Akala is doing.”

He said Ibadan people wanted a person who could perform and Alao-Akala was doing that, adding that the Oke-Ado road, which was tarred by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was being repaired completely by Alao-Akala, a feat none of the Ibadan governors had achieved. The Alao-Akala government also renovated the Mapo Hall.

The council boss, speaking on the Olubadan salary, said the issue was being politicised, adding that the money was always collected whenever it was due.

Speaking on his achievements, he said “we have been able to provide about 70 per cent of the needs of our people through allocation and internally generated revenue (IGR), which has been increased from N1 million to N10 million annually.”

Na friends and Family d guy they put for hin *560#.
You get promoted in Oyo State Civil Service not on merit basis but on how well you can lobby, postrate and attend parties with them.
One Alhaja Kudirat was appointed as Head of Service, someone very close to the governor (Woman friend to the Gov, has one small kid and no husband).
Ideally The most senior official in the Service should hold the post,  and in terms,of ranking she was the 7th person among the qualified permanent secretaries vieing for the post but with the grace of her closeness to the self acclaimed master of blings. She was appointed as the Head of Service 3months ago. She retired weeks ago, He has extended her appointment for another unknown period of months.
While Some permanent secretaries are still running helter-skelter to assume her post when she leaves.
