ln as much as l dont like shanties with all the risk it carries, why not provide alternatives or some kind of succor to the masses that are already on the floor groaning under severe hardship like paying rent for those rendered homeless in different part of the city to ameliorate / cushion their pains, it is easy to type & praise the government for pulling down illegal structures , how about those with families , children, elderly caught in the cross fire, who will be rendered homeless and exposed to further dangers and this is where a responsible / caring / emphatic government comes in which we lack in both the Federal & state levels, sad
Lagos can't keep providing alternatives all the time. Here is too congested, that's the fact. No matter how much compassion you decide to employ here, you must step on toes.

I understand you sir,but consider those in the government too. They can't please us all

the demolition is for their own good, honestly those shanties in Itedo, Ikota, Jakande axis of lekki Epe Expressway are an eye sore. A perfect breeding ground for serious diseases. it is so bad that I cant allow my dog live there. Flood, debris, feaces all over the place. Illegal immigrants frm Benin Republic, Togo, Hoodlums, prostitutes, armed robbers and drug pushers have terrorised that environs enough

Lagos is getting somewhere can you not see it or would you rather live under the covering of woods?? How long before the flood comes and take you along with it??

Thank Ambode
You need to know that government developmental projects must always reflect human face, which is not the case in Lagos. Government is existence for the good of the people, and not just in the interest of privileged few.

The Lagos State goverment disregarded a court order and went on the demolish the shanty. Why the urgency to give the land to Tifnubu and his Lebanese partner Chagoury? Why could'nt they wait to vacate the court order?

They must not reside in lagos.
Go back to your village and farm.
You will be suprised many of those suffering themselves in lagos can live comfortably well in the village
But no. They will rather want to contitute nuisance and security risks

The true test of a man's character is his ability to thrive against all odds. If it is well with them, they wouldn't be there.
Village? Do you know that the expectations in the village is higher than that of the city?
There's more to life my dear.
That is why it good to encourage people with the zeal to begin with the little they can afford.

Always do some basic research before you comment. People might take you for an illiterate.

Do not take it personal.

If we want Nigeria to be a 21st century nation, some people would have to pay the price and that is what you can see.

Its rather sad that they dont have an alternative.

Begin with the little you can afford in your village. You must not come to city to be successful in life.
Those shanties are haven for rapists, armed robbers and kidnappers. No sane govt can let them stand
Am very sure the illegal dwellers knew all these before the started constructing their cardboard houses.
it is better to live in peace in your village than come and constitute nuisance in lagos

I dont know who owns the large expanse of land behind that fence, police has been burning shanties every 6 months and they keep rebuilding. Government needs to allow them be until the owners develop the plots.

Divide nigeria & solve most of the problems like people living in shanties, traffic jam and over population because Lagos & other cities will be decongested at least to some extent.

We have evil dwellers everywhere. Even in the expensive estates, 5star hotels, mansions and in the so call govt. Yet, that doesn't mean the who system is bad. For instance, Nigeria is being painted evil in other countries due to the illicit affairs/activities by some bad eggs. But does that mean it is the whole country that is bad?

I won't be surprised if you are Lagosian and lived all your life in Lagos. Try going to other parts of Nigeria, especially the middle belt and up north. Then you will understand that Ambode is working and governance is not as easy as you think it is.

Jagaban didn't become the richest ex-governor in Africa from his hey days of pushing coke in Chicago.

No matter how much you make off the income of Lagos. Someday the world economy will collapse due to the huge debt across the globe, Many cities will be back down to earth as yobe. You can't change one city in a Failing nation. There is no balance at all in Nigeria

Do you know the plots of land in question ? Because I know the plot very well, and there are no thieves there except the down and out. These are the same people that were chased away from Kuramo when work started on the Eko Atlantic Projects, so every plot they moved to, is always developed and they get chased out. So, why not let them be ? No one is saying there are no thieves, after all the politicians are also thieves but I am saying, allow them stay until the owners of the plots develops the plots. if there are thieves, then arrest them and allow the innocent ones. I do not know why poor is synonymous to theft in your local dictionaries here.

Anybody can protest when aggrieved. But don't frustrate others with it.

Some people might get a query from their bosses because of the traffic caused by these people. Did you consider those ones too

Go to Alausa and protest. That's where you can find the governor.

You already took me for an illiterate, no offence.

Is it not worrisome that your literacy-self could have researched and advised this same govt to provide alternatives for these poor masses (do you think these people deliberately chose to live in shanties or they are economically disadvantaged and have no privileges. mind you, some of these people lives in abject poverty and they are Nigerians just like you and me. they deserved protection from the Govt. they have the same right as Ambode).

what if your only father's house was involved? what if your father have no other source of shelter? just imagine the consequences of these questions as if it affected you and your family and modify your comment above.
