After a long period of patience, Asa people today have relief as one of their own has been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as a Representative of Abia State on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Mr Nwogu N Nwogu is from Obibor, Obuzor-Asa in Ukwa-West Local Government Area of Abia State. The President has magnanimously forwarded his name, among those of Imo and Ondo States to the Senate for confirmation.
I am sure Asa people, where ever they are now, are happy and grateful to President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Senator Enyi Abaribe, Hon Uzoma Abonta and the leadership of Asa Development Union.
It would be recalled that an intruder had attempted to usurp that position earlier but Asa people successfully rose in unison against that deceitful and condemnable act.
Asa people,under the auspices of Asa Development Union, have been meeting and brain-storming over the NDDC Representative.One of the major resolutions reached is that whoever that emerges as Mr President's nominee, as long as the person is an indigene of Asa, would receive total support of Asa people.
Asa people resolved that no Asa man or woman should write any petition against any Asa person that would be nominated by Mr President.
Now that Mr Nwogu N Nwogu has been nominated, it is our prayer that all well-meaning Asa indigenes would give him one hundred percent support.
By the time Nwogu scales through the hurdles of screening at the Senate, Asa people could then meet with him, congratulate him and tell or remind him why previous Abia NDDC Representativeshad failed woefully beyond retrievial.
