Its prolonged bed rest dts causing sores at dependent n pressure areas. Hes not bn managed well,d area has suffered low blood perfusion,its urgent to attend to it pls. your dad must have been bedridden for a while. These are pressure sores or ulcer. please take him to a specialist hospital preferable a teaching hospital to see a plastic surgeon

That's bedsore alright but its being poorly taken care of.

1. Dat bed is not suitable for treating bedsore. But in d absence of such specialised bed, u shld dress dat bed with soft cool cottin fabric.
spray baby powders on d bedsheet b4 laying him down.

2. Put his feet on 1 satchet of water each to prevent sores on d heel of his feet.

3. Turn him to anoda position every 1 to 3 hrs.

4 adequate wound dressing. Pls discuss with doctor to prescribe care for the wound. Also discuss with a real qualified nurse to dress the wound.

Ideally if that wound is not exposing to d bone eusol a n b diluted in saline drip will b used to clean it n dressed with suffratulle n light gauze daily for a week or so then reduce to alternate days. Once d wound is neat u change to pure unadulterated honey.....this will disinfect, remove dead flesh n encourage more wound healing n help fill out d area.

Diet rich in protein, multivites n vit c will also help faster wound healing.

Adequate blood in the body, and body massaging will improve blood circulation to the area n helps faster wound healing.

Go and get FOREVER ALOE FIRST SPRAY as. Matter of urgency. Wash the wound and spray it on about 3 times a day.

Don't fret OP,it's pressure or bed sore it's just that you guys didn't know and kept him on his back for long reducing blood flow to the area causing it to ulcerate to become a sore and that rubber mackintosh is not helping..start first by getting a cotton bedsheet you lay it without crease to avoid friction on the skin,get a nurse to be doing daily dressing if you guys can't go to the hospital,any time he poos or pees use water to clean the area so it won't further contaminate the area and continue using the powder I saw it's good or use vaseline jelly after bathing him daily..then make sure you turn him like 4hrly to increase blood flow to all the areas

It is so sad our practice of medicine is still so backward that the doctors will not admit to OP that they have exceeded their level of competence . My father died in a teaching hospital after some weeks almost 20 years ago of symptoms which went on for months , today I could investigate and diagnose them in 2 weeks max.
The main problem here from OP's write up would seem to be the prostate cancer , anyone who is weak and not moving a lot will almost certainly develop a pressure ulcer. I have seen a few that went deep to the level of the bone but with simple nursing as advised (Clean dressings and keep turning ) they heal surprisingly .
The biggest challenge would be the cancer( I have known people who lived for 15 - 20 years) with well managed prostate cancer

Thank you so much for this well informed suggestion... I really do appreciate you guys. Will be visiting a Teaching hospital tomorrow for possible transfer. Also trying to reach a nurse that will be doing night shifts...getting natural honey and Alo Vera won't be a problem at all.... But will the hospital allow me to administer suppliments to him when he is under their care?

It can heal, but twill cost time, money and dedicated and round the clock Nursing care for the bedsores to heal.

It's more complicated than you think. I was told the teaching hospital made my elder bro to sign a document before he was taken away from them... But with the whole suggestions from nlanders family., seems I will have to take him back to the teaching hospital after we all. So, the family intend going back to them tomorrow. Hope I am clear?

Because it's a nylon using to cover the mattress & its generates heat a lot which is the main causes of that sore. The remedy is very simple, get a sudocream( I may not get the spelling right because its been long we used it for my old man) which you'll applying to the affected area frequently & make sure you're turning him very often too so that fresh air can always get to the affected area. Though, the hospital crew won't allow you to be with your patient all the time but try all you could to administer my prescription.,. you'll thank me later I tell you

We only put him on that bed to be able to clean the cotton bed and bed spread he sleeps on.
