A fire outbreak has been reported at the premises of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Alagbado, Lagos. Fire fighters are still battling to put out the fire and more than five fire trucks belonging to the Lagos State and Federal Fire Service are at the scene of the fire. Some of the affected areas in the television station included the library, studio, warehouse, the cyber-section, the warehouse and the Master Control Room (MCR).

Members of staff of the TV station said the fire started around 3 p.m. and the cause is yet to be determined.

The Lagos State Ambulance Service treated six persons who sustained minor injuries while one person was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital. The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Frank Mba, and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority are on ground evacuating the staff. The TV station, under Daar Communications, also houses the radio section, Raypower 100.5 FM.

Africa Independent Television (AIT) got the country's first commercial terrestrial television licence from the Federal Government on December 6, 1996. The fire incident is coming seven days after an explosion at the Onipanu office of Superscreen Television.

A fire reportedly destroyed a building housing the radio and television transmitters of AIT and Ray Power FM in 2007.
