What's Wrong With Nairalanders? by RicoBee(m): 1:34pm On Apr 12, 2017
This question has been on my mind for sometime. I've been a member of this forum for close to a decade. I remember in those days, I mean those halcyon days, Nairaland used to be a haven of comfort where members who were disconsolate found solace.

I remember an instance where a lady asked where Viagra could be bought where she resided. For her to come out with such, she probably wanted to rescue her marriage. The replies she got were heart lifting. People asked her who needed it. She replied that it's someone close to her. No one laughed at her or denigrated her. People came to her aid and offered assistance. Both doctors and those from other professions. She left a happier woman. smiley

That was some years ago. Fast forward to 2017, if such a woman had come to Nairalanders for help, I mean that kind of help, you would hear derogatory words like olosho, ashewo, runs girl, etc.

We must all fight this nasty attitude of these kind of people. angry That is a major way, Nairaland as a forum can regain its glory.

One Last Shot: For those of you, who may want to attack me with invective, bring it on. You will definitely not be dignified with my response, for they are golden. smiley

Peace!
RicoBee.

It has to do with the age bracket and level of exposure.
Both has fallen drastically as far as Nairaland members are concerned.

Back then, a large percentage of Nairalanders were Nigerians in the diaspora and a few foreigners but these days, Nairaland is awash with adolescents who are still seeking admission into the university while some are undergraduates.

Although, there is nothing wrong with that but where everything goes wrong is when they display certain levels of stupidity online and that's why we have complaints such as OP's coming up time and again.

I believe Admin should add an age bracket to the profile section to easily identify kidults from grown ups.

Those saying age bracket should be introduced, what makes you think those people will put their correct age? or do you expect people to upload their birth certificates?
It's on this same forum that you'll see dudes posing as girls..

The main problem is the ease of access to the Internet. You'll see a 10 years old kid with mobile phones with access to the Internet unlike those days where you'll need to get to the cyber café to browse and you wouldn't dare touch your parents pc without their supervision..
You'll also be shocked to see so called old (I wouldn't call them adults/mature peeps sha) displaying a level of stupidity that's out of this world.

Everyone will just have to learn how to ignore ïdiots and pick what's relevant from the threads..
