What type of Hepatitis does he have? Has he done a blood test to confirm? If it's the very infectious type, you probably have contracted it. Seek medicare together.

the first question you should have asked him was:" which hepatitis do you have?"

there are 3 basic Hepatitis: A, B and C,
Hepatitis A which can be caught by drinking dirty water or when having contact with human excrement will disappear naturally from your system within a few weeks/months. people almost never die from this one.

Hepatitis B and C: can be caught via unprotected sex or sharing of bodily fluid etc. it is the dangerous one which can lead to liver cancer, cirrhosis and often death (if you dont get a liver transplant in time.)

if you have been vaccinated against Hepatitis(A/B) then you have more chances to avoid being infected but you still need to be careful.
