I came home during a break from my NYSC one day...my mum wanted to buy card to subscribe, but she could not get card her Etisalat card in the neighborhood cos it was sunday. So I volunteered to use my Skye bank for her upon the agreement that she will give me the cash. After I had helped her recharge 1000 naira Etisalat... She came back 2 minutes later that I should help her recharge another 1k that she need to call somebody making 2k that she will return to me in cash that evening...foolish me I agreed !
O boy...later that evening I asked her for my money, na so she started the story of my life right from when she give birth to me to when she sent me to Unilorin. Mehn, I just give up.
E pain me gan...but I learnt my lesson : NEVER EVER BORROW YOUR MUM MONEY THAT YOU CANNOT FORGET.

Shout out to all single mum out there...my mum with just her miserable civil servant salary single handedly train the 3 of us up to University. And even collected all her life savings to send our biggest bro Abroad to complete his professional course. God pls...let this woman be my mother again in the next life and the next and the next. kiss

so nice ...my mum is still the best..lol

My dad was a specialist in beating us... He used a belt most times. Mum had to take the softer side. I remember when she warned us not to scatter her bed. My brother and I dove on the bed as soon as she was out. Shortly after, and unexpectedly she returned home to find us diving like superman on the bed. She picked up dad's belt and tried to beat us as we jumped around the room. The beating soft like foam compared to dad's. grin

But she sabi knock o... wen she kunk you enh, your eye go enter inside.

when you came home and you feel you want to wash your handkerchief and your mum sees u and beg you to wash one of her cloth buh you refused,
my dear that is when you will hear the story of her life,
your dad's life before you were born

and when she start to tell you your own, you won't know when you start washing the whole cloths in the house

including the curtains in the whole house.

Ngozi Nwozu's character in the series "skinny girl in transit" depicts it perfectly. grin

When your mum borrows that money you have been saving to buy gameboy with and when you ask her she says "all the food you have been eating in this house, how much have you paid?"
Thought it's only my mum that does that. I saved money with her with the intention of buying a bicycle. I was so confident my" saved" cash was more than double the bicycle price. I kept one pestering her to allow me count my money so I will my total cash bust she kept on bringing different excuses. On the day I vehemently refused to accept excuses, I got a line similar to this: all the food you have been eating in the house, did I buy them with stone or did I pluck them from the tree?
That single incident however ruin my saving-culture cos up til day, I stil kinda of find it difficult to save. That first experience was really painful cut I put a lot of devotion into it, and deprived myself of a lot of things as a kid back then
